A frien of mine filed for disability, it has been six months and we are wondering how much longer befor benefits start coming in the mail!!

usually takes up to 6 months to a year. if lucky some get noticed by the 3rd month. waiting stinks!

It could be much longer. It sounds as if your friend hasn't even proved disability yet. There may be a hearing and more medical exams before disability is even established. Once your friend receives a letter that agrees with the claim, a date will be included when first payment is expected.

At least a year after the person has not been able to work. It's a poor way to have to get benefits, but it's the American way. The benefits should be retroactive, so there will be one big check. It still may not be enough to live on, but it's a start.

For me, it was about 4 months. If she is approved though, they will retroactive it back to the date she filed and she'll get a HUGE check.

did your friend recieve a denial letter ? if so your friend has 60 days 2 appeal.. getting a lawyer and taking the denial letter with them is the way 2 go before the 60 days is up.. after 60 days, they have 2 re-apply.. if no denial letter yet, give s.s.i -a- call and see whats going on..
