According to the christian religion, isn't suicide "the unforgivable sin?" Sunday school is confusing me.

if they were saved prior to committing suicide yes. The only hope for salvation is this side of the grave. Salvation is not earned for acts but given freely for faith. Therefore salvation cannot be lost and if a saved person did committ suicide their salvation would not be taken from them, but i doubt a saved person would do such.

I am sure you can find religious teachers on both sides of this. But the reality is that Christ died for ALL our sins--the ones we've committed and the ones still in the future. However, NOT BELIEVING is the one unforgivable sin...and I think suicide is a likely expression of that lack of faith, along with a lot of other things.

Whether people who commit suicide get to take part in the resurrection of the saints is not up for vote. It doesn't matter what anyone here says--God will make a just and righteous decision on that, based on whether that person was in Christ. I can't really imagine how ending your life could be an act of faith, but I don't see everything.

There is no true unforgiveable sin. A sin that is listed as unforgiveable is blasheming the holy spirit but the reason for that is because if a person is so deluded to think good is evil and vice versa he/she would never seek repentance because they would be so headstrong and stubborn in their ways. Anybody who cries out from the depths of their soul for forgiveness will recieve it.

The problem with suicide is you are not alive to ask forgiveness. The mercy of God may interevene based on the state of the person who commits suicide. It is unclear and probably not a situation to find yourself in.

No, suicide is not the unforgiveable sin. Blasphamy i. Blasphemy is not having the presence ofGod in your life. That is the only unforgivable sin. Makes sence right? I think that a suicide may go to heaven because most people whom do it are so far gone, kind of out of thier minds and not thinking clearly.

When you convert, Jesus forgives all your sins, past and future. You can go to heaven if you commit suicide under many circumstances. A Biblical example is Samson. He killed himself together with a bunch of Philstines. He is mentioned in Hebrews as a Man of Faith, which means he is in heaven. However, Saul is an example of someone who commits suicides and ends up in hell; not because of the suicide, but because God had already left him.
The first issue when you die is: Was Jesus in your heart when you died? If He was, you go to heaven; if he wasn't, you go to hell. Now, He doesn't leave your heart in an instant when you sin, why would He if you commit suicide, which is a sin?

Yes. I think that some people that commit suicide because of mental problems cannot be held accountable for their actions. If they are a Christian before the mental illness caused the suicide they will go to heaven.

I thought the unforgivable sin was denying his name. As for suicide, unless you have some mental illness that prevents you from being rational then I don't believe you can make it to Heaven if you take your own life.

The act of suicide is considered to be a sin, although we all are living in sin, everyday.

A person who has the faith at least the size of a mustard seed, can be forgiven, only if they ask for it, shall it be given to them.

The Catholic's have told people this for many years. Remember the Catholic's did not write the original bible, their version could be slanted, by their own will, if it happens to be slanted those who have choosen to do so will be punished by him.

Do not put too much trust or belief in organized religion. Think for yourself and don't let some religion do the thinking for you. Take suicide for instance. Do you really think that God is so cruel as to send someone who comitted suicide to hell? Just doesn't make any sense, does it? Think about it. The person comitting suicide must already be in some kind of hell to take such drastic measures. And then to be sentenced to more hell? I don't think so!

Suicide is a sin, yes. but when you are saved by God's grace, You are saved from sin....past, present, and future. So are you forgiven, yes if you are a born again believer. The only sin that is unforgiven is Blasphemy against the spirit. That entails not ever accepting what God has given you.
