I had just delivered my son about 3 hours prior. I had been up all night delivering and I was still groggy from the nubain. My husband had left to let the dog out and I was nursing my son for the first time. I dozed off and all of a sudden I felt someone tap me on my foot. Twice. As if to wake me. No, it wasn't that reflex where when you're falling asleep, your brain thinks the body is dying due to a drop in respiration and heartrate so it sends an electric signal to the leg to jerk the body back to life. Not that. I know what that is. This felt like fingers from someone touching me in a deliberate manner with the intention of waking me. When I woke up, my baby's head tilted back and he was out like a light. Snoring.

Needless to say, I was extremely careful when nursing him after that and he's 8 years old now. (future quarterback, he has an arm outta this world). Who or what touched me? Or was my mind personifiying the reflex as a touch not a defense mechanism.

By the way, I am a born again Christian and I believe in supernatual beings like the Holy Spirit. I can't say if it was an angel or if it was that "death mechanism" I talked about. It could have been an angel but I'm not one of those flaky people who believe everything is either God or the devil. Like blaming the devil when you get fired, but you were late everyday for two weeks. Or saying it was God when you hit the lottery but you stole the money for the ticket. I just want to know what others may offer as an explanation for this and draw my own conclusion while taking your answers under advisement.

I do not know your Faith... and in this case it dose not mater really... if God has a purpose for your son then the act could well have been for him and not you... There are angels about, it could well have been one who touched you. If you were ment to know for sure you would have been given a clearer sign. Just be greatful and enjoy your son. His life will be what it will be.

I think you may be looking into something that isnt there. I dont believe in gaurdian angels, because God is so powerful that he can do everything without angels help. God may have touched you to open your eyes to the lord and change your life. he may have used this experience to increase your faith in God.

I have had "something" shake me awake before. It has happened twice. Once I got up and check on my son and he had a really high fever. The other time I got up and noticed my front door was not only unlocked but the wind had blown it open.

I think it's God's way of giving you a heads up.

You make two points here;

1) You had just given birth
2) You were groggy from drugs

I would tend to believe that these had a very heavy influence on what you felt!

I have heard this before.. It could have been something supernatural. Like an angel, or a force from God

It sounds like someone came for a visit. Perhaps a dead loved one wanting to express their joy at seeing your new wee one enter the world. A grandparent perhaps?

Happens to me all the time. There's nothing metaphysical about it. Hell, just the other night, I dreamed a snake was in the bed. You should have seen me kicking the covers off of me...

There are spirits who watch over us. You may call them angels, small gods, whatever. They are always there.
You just were touched. That is unusual
