The best book I could recomend to you is A manual for Wrtiers of Term Papers, These, and Dissertations by Kate L. Turabian...the book is dense...but it has everything you would ever need to know in it. My professors make us go by it on every paper. Hope this helped.

Look for a Style Book, more specifically, a Journalism Grammar and Style Book. It will teach you not just the proper usages but also the marking methods of editing.
