Don't worry, they will pay all of it! Especially since the base doctor sent you to see a civilian specialist.
When we were stationed in Florida, I had my baby girl in the Military hospital there, but she became ill days later and they sent her to a civilian hospital. Tri-Care paid her entire bill. The only time I have ever seen Tri-Care attempt to not pay a bill from a civilian doctor, was when I went home last year to see my parent's and I had to go to the emergency room because I hurt my back, and Tri-Care said they weren't going to pay because I didn't contact them before I went to the ER, or after I got back! But my husband disputed it, and they paid it.

I'd go with everyone else and say, they'll likely be paying for all of the surgery, mind you, that's only if you're husband is presently active-duty. In the future I would seriously suggest that you get in contact with Tricare, or better yet the family support office on your base when you have questions like this. They've got plenty of people on hand who can handle these kinds of questions.

I would contact tri-care and ask them.
HOWEVER, I became extremely Ill and had to have my kidney removed a few months ago. Spent about 2 months in and out of the hospital, and the bills racked up to well over $90,000. Tricare paid for whta they thought was necessary, and the hospital had to eaccept it as full payment. All I can say about that is thank heavens for Tri-care.

Standard or Prime? Prime will pay for most of it, although you may have to pay out of pocket for anasthesia and meals plus anything else Tricare in its infionite wisdom deems unnecessary. Standard, you will have a much larger co pay(up to your yearly cap).

If your husband is active duty, they should pay all of it. I had my appendix removed at a civilian hospital and I paid zero.
