Tracts are OK but I too am home bound and have found it particularly to go into Internet chat rooms to witness. Also the way you handle yourself is a witness in itself. Being home bound and in pain most of the time the first thing I want to do when someone comes over and asks how I am doing is say im in pain and go on complaining. But I do not I just say I am blessed. This kind of witness usually spreads. I have heard people say it is such a blessing to see you so joyful when we visit we know how much pain you must be in. Then they tell you how they tell others. Witnessing is living you life in the way Christ would have you as well as telling others about him.

If you're homebound, maybe you can mail them out, but I agree with the previous answer that tracts don't really serve much use and they're kind of impersonal.
The best witness is to love your neighbor as yourself, and the best way to love your neighbor is to be a friend to him.

Preaching to others about God's Kingdom is a commandment that Jesus gave his followers to accomplish before the end comes. We are very close to seeing the Great Tribulation reach its fulfillment and Armegeddon will soon follow so we need to reach people the best way we can, whether by tracts, by telephone, going house to house (like the apostles did) or by just talking to people wherever we are. Our purpose in doing this is to glorify God's name and to save lives. There are millions of people in Christendom who do not know what God's Kingdom is or what blessings it will bring to meek ones who would love to live under its rule. Daniel 2:44 promises us that God's government will be the only one ruling over the earth. All other human governments will be gone forever. Politics will be a thing of the past. Yes, to witness about these things will strengthen your faith, but most of all, it will please our Creator.

Tracts are idiotic. The only thing that tracts do for us atheists is offer some comic relief.
Instead of "witnessing", try listening to other people. It's amazing how much "witnesses" don't see of the world around them.

I believe the definition of "witness" needs a little honing. Tracts don't do it. Cornering someone and talking their ears off about "my sweet lard Jay-sus" only alienates them. If you want to witness, do so the way Jesus himself did: by His works. He HELPED people, for goodness' sake!!!! He FED them, He HEALED them, He showed mercy to the confused and the downtrodden. Do tracts do that? Does monopolizing a conversation do that? NO! If you are homebound, and want to further His work, then forget the tracts. Write real letters. Write to soldiers stationed overseas about the simple good things that you see around you. Give them comfort by painting pictures with your words of the sparrows busily foraging in the dry leaves, the songs of the mockingbirds and wrens, the wry humor of your cat and the unfailing love of your dog. Lay off the scripture quotes except for perhaps one at the end that tells the reader that God holds all of us in his hands and that you love and appreciate the efforts of those who are protecting liberty. Or write to prisoners. Or write to any patient in a veterans hospital, or people in nursing homes, or shut-ins like yourself. Offer your help to your pastor in ministering to the sick and grieving in your congregation. If you've got time to write letters, you have time to do some real good in your neighborhood.

It is a wonderful way to witness!
You can leave tracts in public places where people can choose to pick them up or not... this is a non-threatning way to reach people who may be apprehensive to "talk" with you about such things. Sometimes people will come across a tract and it will have answers for them that they need, but didnt know who to talk to about such things! I know I found tracts before in restaurants, grocery carts, office - magaizine tables etc... I wasnt looking for anything in particular and came across them different times and they had information that helped me and encouraged me.
Thats why I started leaving tracts in places like that so people would come across them and if they need them they can take them for encouragement!!!
Keep passing them out - they do reach some people!!!

there's one verse out there, and this may be totally out of context, it's been a while since i dusted the cover of my sword. the verse states something along the lines of "let every person work out their own salvation."
taking this in the context of witnessing being a required ticket punch before passing thru the pearly whites, i would say if tracts are the only means you have to witness to others, you are fulfilling the obligation of witnessing AND working out your own salvation
hope this helps!

I find that the tracts are not taken seriously.
I have been home with my teen son for years (he has an undiagnosed disease, and has missed most of high school) I find that when I speak with people about my hope in God, my trust in Jesus, or just writing e-mails about my faith, that is witnessing that people understand.
I have had alot of people asking me to pray for them as well. They have seen our faith with my son's medical problems, and just telling our story of how we are hanging on is our witness to them about Jesus.
God bless

When Jesus said to be witnesses of him, he didn't recommend any certain method. Some of the apostles wrote their 'biography' of Jesus, which we now have in the Bible books of Matthew, Mark, and John. The apostles preached publicly in synagogues and marketplaces and taught people privately in homes. But mostly the early Christians talked about Jesus to people they met in their everyday activities...friends, neighbors, business associates, etc. They didn't have tracts back then, but today they are available, so if they help to turn people to their Bibles to learn about Jesus, why wouldn't they be acceptable?
Jesus commanded us to witness about him in order for others to learn about him. That is the reason he wanted people to 'witness'. It doesn't appear to be for the purpose of setting up some kind of 'requirement' whereby an individual earns his salvation by works. Jesus didn't threaten anyone with everlasting destruction for not witnessing enough, did he? Jesus' followers are happy to tell others about him but not everyone is inclined or able to do it in the same manner. Each has his own gift. Some are evangelizers, others teachers, others shepherds, etc. (Eph 4:11, 12).
Things were much different in the times of the apostles....hardly anyone knew anything about Jesus, and there were no Bible books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John for people to be able to read about him. Things are much different today. We now have the Christian Greek Scriptures which have been translated into hundreds of languages, and the 'speech about the torture stake" has reached to the farthest corners of the earth. (1 Cor. 1:18).
In whatever circumtances you find yourself, you can let your light shine by reflecting the qualities that Jesus lived and preached. I do not want to be so presumptuous as to speak for Jesus; but if you let your light shine, it seems likely to me that your efforts to witness for Jesus, whatever method, are acceptable to him.
