Heres what I would have done when I found out that many of the terroists were from Saudi Arabia... I would have ordered a jet plane loaded with one nuclear bomb and flew directly over and droped it in the center of Saudi Arabia. Those terroists want terror I would give it to them. That's the only thing they understand. Also the several Russian citizens I have chat with on the internet say they would love to deliver to the arab nations a "bucket of sunshine" which is what Russian people call a nuclear bomb.

I would have gotten off my butt immediately and make sure that everything possible was being done at the scene. Instead of letting the rich and politically connected Saudi Arabians secretly leave the States I would have kept them in the States and not let them return to the people that destroyed the buildings.

Nukes would certainly NOT be high on my list. I would probably have done the same things that our president did:
(1) NOT disturbe the children at the school when getting the news, although I would have gracefully exited sooner than he did.
(2) flown to a secure place such as a military base while people were quickly and quietly polling the nation to see where else things were going on,
(3) retreated to a secure communication place like former SAC headquarters where there are secure communications and facilities to assess the broad range of possibilities were the attacks numerous and equally disasterous in many locations,
(4) made assessing communications with other leaders elsewhere in the world.

But here is where I would have changed, and probably gotten into trouble:
(1) Froze not only air traffic, but cleared the Interstate highways for military and designated emergency traffic
(2) Called up the full reserves and national guard across the country to secure areas of transportation and strategic or historical landmarks
(3) Called in every federal law officer and asked assistance of every state and local law authority to locate and verify person who has entered the country from an Arabic or Islamic nation in the last, say, five years--then issue arrest warrants if they are not where or about what they said they were when entering the country.
(4) Cancelled the visa of every Arabic male that does not have an American sponsor to solidly vouch for them--employer, customer, clients, etc.
(5) Close the ports until every container and every cargo is fully verified, as well as cargo handlers and truckers.

I am very very glad you are not president. I do not believe the nationalities of the terrorists were known immediately at the time of the attacks. Why would you drop the nuke in the geographical center of Saudi Arabia and not it's biggest and most populated capital city of Riyadh? Would you really want to kill over 4 million people for the actions of 19? If 19 American people attacked a target in Russia would the Russians then be justified in nuking Washington DC? Even if you somehow answer yes to all of these questions the effects of the nuke would not be confined to Saudi Arabia, it would have world environmental and economic repercussions.

would not have attacked Iraq, we were doing an outstanding job in Afghanistan proved by documents and Intel from the people we were knocking out. Terrorist understand terror and if you hit them hard and fast that would send them hiding, allowing a slow draw on war with so many restriction and open borders is exactly what they want. Dropping Nuclear bombs on "friendly for now" oil rich countries would be the wrong answer, we as a country would collapse if we Nuked Saudi Arabia because the rest of the oil producing Arab nations would have shut us off from their oil, this has already been studied and found to be the beggining of WW3 and the possible end of the world

I would have gone to the UN and made them step in to stop this madness. If they refused I would stop all money given to the UN and any other country that wouldn't help. What I would not have done, is what our President has done. The bomb is not a toy to be used lightly, neither is preemptive strikes. The world is worse off today than it was after 9/11.

I think that would have made many American's feel good at least for a day. But when the reprecussion of such a use became fact, we would have the whole world against us, not to mention NO oil at all from Middle Eastern states and mostly likely defacto war with all of Islam.

Not ALL Saudis were involved. That would be no better than the butt heads who did it to the US. The problem with "fighting" jerks like that is they are so cowardly they don't stand up, they just run and hide in with Innocent people. Then when the innocents get hurt, the buttheads SCREAM persecution.

oh you poor people! did you forget this was a democracy??? do have any idea that the president has no real say so in these matters!! he doesn't say what he gets to do and where he gets to go. The secret service doesn't let him wander off to go fight the terrorist. the secret service grabs him and runs for cover to protect him. he is immediately taken to safety, briefed on the topic, and then told what the other departments are going to do about, what actions are available, and he has to confer with the defense on what is going to happen. Then he gets to stand in front of the camera like a dummy and tell us what other departments have decided to do.

you guys give the president too much credit for what really goes on.

I would cry. Then I would start an investigation, and tell the troops to start packing for a little visit to Saudi Arabia. None of this bombing stuff... the troops will be more than happy to go in and fight the enemy, not commit mass murder. That's how you get rid of terrorists, not by killing whoever you see and then blaming them for it.

I would have immediately ordered an investigation of the disaster (or possibly several investigations), and waited for the results before deciding what to do next. If it actually was due to terrorists, I'd probably send off a whole lot of spies to go assassinate all the terrorists they could find. If it was actually engineered by other government officials and corporations, I'd reveal it all on the media and drag them all into court on charges of mass murder.
