I noticed that people do throw that out there all the time. I don't see what they gain by saying it. They should know that if they say something like that they are only pushing away the person, not drawing them closer. You can't insult someone, tell them off, and then expect them to listen to you? The only thing you think is, "I would never listen to you because I would never want to be like you."
I think if your going to teach an atheist/agnostic about the bible you should start small and work your way up. You do that with everything. Math, you start small and work your way up to the harder things. By telling someone they are going to hell, your neither teaching them or helping them.

It is a warning, but sometimes, in the heat of arguing or discussing, we all as, imperfect humans, can impart emotions or feelings or desires that are not consistent with our beliefs. You feel as if Christians are smug and that they think that they are better than agnostics and atheists... and there well could be an element of truth to that. However, it seems that both sides try to ridicule or embarrass those with whom they are disagreeing, just because of a certain amount of confidence that they have in their own point of view.
I believe that all Christians may have to account for all the missed opportunities of sharing the hope that we have, and so there may be countless examples in which I went by the maxim of "live and let live" instead of engaging someone in a discussion of faith. That reticence my be because I felt that it would create an uncomfortable moment for me or cause a disagreement. Balance that feeling against the alternative - my silence may rob someone of the opportunity to hear the message that could save them from a life of eternal suffering. I justify my silence on these issues by telling myself that opening up a shouting match will save no one, and some people's minds will never change. I am not supposed to worry about that - I should just put the message out there, and let God change or not change their hearts...
I love to talk and engage people and have lively discussions - I don't need nor would it be any fun if everyone agreed all the time. I do however, like to keep it civil, and I TRY to maintain a measure of respect in all discussions, as no discussion is possible if both sides aren't at least willing to hear each other out. I doubt if EVERY time a Christian approaches you on a matter of your faith, that they are wishing you any kind of ill. Are you sure that it isn't paranoia or maybe some manner of your own inner defense mechanisms kicking in - you tell yourself that they are being mean or hurtful, that way you don't have to listen to what they are saying...

Never would I wish Hell on anyone. It's an awful place of torment. I don't know what kinds of things have been said to you in the past so I'm going to apologize for any thing that was said out of rudeness. A true christian has only love and concern for their fellow man.

No one should tell another that they are going go hell Certainly none of needs to throw any stones. I might agree with you that they may be holding some desire to see one burn in hell, but in reality if they are true believers they would only pray for you. And as a non believer it really should not matter to you what they say or do, cause after all you DO NOT BELIEVE right.

I wouldnt tell you that, I would witness to you and tell you the love that Jesus Christ has for you and that He wants so much for you to spend eternity with Him and not in a burning Hell. I would be very compassionate about it because I would never wish that on anyone. I believe that if you don't accept Jesus as your personal Savior then when you die, or when Jesus come to receive us, whichever comes first, then yes, you will go to Hell. But, like I said, I would never ever wish that on anyone!

what is frustrating to a Christian is to know this wonderful thing and then Satan builds a brick wall when we try to help someone. It s just facts and warning so they wont cease to exist. God wants everyone to have a chance. Disrespect isnt called for sometime like what happened in here yesterday....we are still human and we have feelings... I have compassion I would love to see all these wars end now and everyone to be born again to joy
Wwere you taught about God as a child??

I think many christians have been taught to hate and fear non-christians. They think that because they are christians they are somehow morally superior and feel offended when they find out non-christians believe that they believe in a fairy tale. When they tell people to burn in hell, they genuinely hope it happens.
One only has to attend a christian church to hear the ministers and priests teaching to hate and fear non-christians. Countless times I have heard them equate being christian with being good, and being non-christian with being evil. It gets old after a while. Especially since they don't act at all good. They say one thing and do another constantly.

No. I used to objective this after i replaced into first saved. 2 rationalization why I no longer do: a million. i'm no one's choose, and that i'm a sinner myself. 2. i might want to really concentration on the glories of God. The above motives are not from now on because i'm anxious about offending someone, or squeamish discussing what the Bible says about hell. it is basically how i trust convey about bypass about the daddy's company. the great fee instructs us to bypass about preaching the Gospel. The Gospel is sturdy information, the message of salvation by Christ Jesus. <><

1) Personally, I have never and will never tell anyone they are going to hell. I may tell them the end results of certain choices, none of which includes burning forever..
2) I do not feel that hell is a place of fiery torment - it is just the condition of being dead.
3) If I die before Jesus rides against God's enemies, I will be there too.
