I served 8 years in the Army and was Honorably Discharged a couple of months ago. I liked the Army but wanted a new job but that was not possible as I was an E6.Can I reenter into Active Duty Army with a different MOS? Would I lose rank?

If you were honorably discharged, can still pass the physical and are under the minimum age, you can re-enter but only a recruiter can answer your questions about what rank/MOS.

If you were honorably discharged a few months ago, you should still be an IRR and the transition should be relatively easy.

Did you really serve 8 years in the Army or has the military radically changed from the military I knew?

After 8 years you should know how the army works! Promise them anything to get them to enlist and then "DO WITH THEM AS YOU PLEASE". The military I knew would promise you anything to get you to re-enlist. They would promise to let you change your MOS and maybe they would promise you no loss of rank. You would have your orders for anywhere from 5 minutes to 24 hours. Then you would get new orders that read something like "We regret to inform you that your new chosen MOS is overstaffed at this time. Therefore you will report to "Such and Such" base where you will once again take up and perform the duties of "your old MOS".

Yes there desperate and they might not knock you down a rank even if they did the reenlistment bonus should more than make up for it. As for a different mos i don't see why not. while learning your new trade this stupid war might come to an end what a deal !!!! Go for it fool run to the recruiter like the wind.

as long as you still meet enlistment requirments and have a copy of your discharge paperwork (I forgret the form number) you should be fine, about losing rank that's something that MEPs personnel and you are going to have to work out.

They're desparate for anyone nowadays. But most folks do NOT want to reenlist, because they seen the truth and know that this war is a sham. But if you still buy into it, then go for it.
