It is amazing isn't it. That they all believe in the one God yet are willing to cram it down the others throat even to the point of killing each other. Its humanity at its worse, its control at its worst and it is power corrupted and misused.

MONOTHEISTIC RELIGIONS HAVE ONLY EXISTED FOR THE PAST 3500-4000 YEARS, WHILE DIETY WORSHIP AS A WHOLE HAS EXISTED FOR OVER 20,000+ YEARS AND THE NUMBER OF DIFFERENT IMAGES AND REASONS AND ARCHETYPES ARE VAST. LONG BEFORE THE RECYCLED PAGAN GOD, RENAMED JESUS FROM THE FIRST PERSIAN MITHRA OR MITHRAS (ALSO WIDELY WORSHIPPED IN GREECE UNDER THE NAME APOLLONIUS) AND THEN ROMAN DIETY (FROM ONE OF THE MANY MYSTERY CULTS) AND THEN, UPON PERSECUTION OF THE ROMAN EMPEROR NERO, WERE DUBBED CHRISTIANS AND JESUS WAS REBORN ANEW, WITH A NEW NAME BUT ALL OF THE OLD ANGLES. THE MIRACULOUS CONCEPTION AND BIRTH, THE LIFE, THE DEATH, THE RESSURECTION, THE SALVATION.....NONE OF IT'S NEW. NOT ONE IOTA. THE POINT IS NOT WHETHER IT'S ONE GOD, TWO GODS, YOUR GOD, MY GOD. TRUTH IS TRUTH AND GOD IS JUST A WORD. ALBERT EINSTEIN SAID IT BEST ON THAT POINT,
"It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it."
- Albert Einstein
I PERSONALLY CANNOT SPEAK FOR THE "PEOPLE" IN YOUR QUESTION, I CAN ONLY SPEAK FOR ME. I HAVE BEEN BAPTIZED INTO THE SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST AND LUTHEREN CHURCHES AND WENT TO CHURCH WITH MY BEST FRIEND WHO WAS A MORMON, REGULARY THROUGHOUT MY ENTIRE CHILDHOOD. I WAS ALSO AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF JOB'S DAUGHTERS FOR OVER 10YEARS (PAST HONORED QUEEN AND MAJORITY MEMBER) AND I HAVE READ THE ENTIRE BIBLE, FRONT TO BACK FOUR TIMES AND HAVE SPENT MY ADULT LIFE IN THE PURSUIT OF TRUTH AND FACT OF ALL KINDS OF WORLD RELIGIONS, PAGAN AND ALIKE. EVERY ANSWER I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE HAS BEEN ANSWERED BY LOOKING FOR MYSELF, TO NATURE AND THE WAY THE WORLD AND UNIVERSE WORK TOGETHER AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN LET DOWN. THERE IS NOTHING DEVINE ABOUT THAT. THE ONLY POWER OR SPIRIT I HAVE EVER HEARD AND THAT GIVES ME THE GREATEST PEACE IS MY OWN. IF WE COULD GET RID OF THE IDEA THAT YOUR DESTINAY IS DEPENDANT ON SOME GREAT PLAN AND YOU LEARN TO TRUST YOURSELF AND TRULY BE OPEN, THEN THERE WOULDN'T BE ANY FUSS. THERE WOULD BE TRUE PEACE AND A TRUE BANDING TOGETHER IN FELLOWSHIP, WITH NO BARRIERS. AGAIN I CAN'T SPEAK FOR THE PEOPLE, BUT WHO'S NOT LISTENING, WHEN YOU WON'T EVEN CONSIDER THAT THERE IS NO GOD. I'VE TRIED ALL DIRECTIONS, I WAS RAISED CHRISTIAN SIR. DOESN'T OCCUMS RAZOR STATE YOU MUST CONSIDER ALL POSSIBILITIES TO EVEN COME CLOSE TO A CORRECT CONCLUSION?

What? How ignorant is this statement!
All Eastern Oriental are never monotheist but polytheistic or atheistic.Probably you just read this.
Taoism, Confucianism, Buddhism are 3 major religions in East Asia all ATHEISTIC!
So as Jainism which inspired world peace of non-violence " Ahimsa" practised by both Jains and Buddhists for 2,500 yrs. Long before Christ...
There is no wars fought in the names of any atheistic faiths. Only monotheistic faiths belonging to Abrahamic/ Adamic are known for Holy Wars.Hail The GoD of Peace!

Those who worship Allah believe that Mohamed is a prophet and do not believe Jesus is the Messiah. Jesus was the last prophet and He is the Messiah! There can be no further prophecies since the Bible was sealed after God revealed the future to John when he was in exile on the Island of Patmos. God did not send Mohamed as His messenger. Mohamed is one of the false prophets Jesus warned us about. Mohamed was not sent by God. He was sent by the devil. We must remain true to God's teachings. The same goes for Buddhism, Baha'i, Hinduism, African religions, Confucianism, and Pagan/Wiccans.

Everyone has one mother. Does that mean all mothers are one?
A religion may be monotheistic, but the characteristics of that single god differ. What moral code does that god want us to live by? What happens if the code is broken? What happens after we are dead?
If you ask these questions for each monotheistic faith, you will get a different answer.

It is true to say that all people of faith have a god and that relationship is what is important. Which faith and why is only important to that individual and after all you only need one faith.
The problem is some people particulary in montheistic religions are fundamental that either other peoples faith does matter in choice or does not matter all because they see theirs a superior.
Converting people to the doctrine or ideology scores points for some people. How many times do you has a Hindu or a Buddhist tried to convert you?

You're right; it is the "isms" that cause the schisms because somewhere down the line, man forgot that we're all going to have to give an account for "every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God" and it scared them to death, not being able to understand certain things about prophetic Scripture. Instead of "studying to show themselves approved unto God", they somehow got the notion that they had "poetic license" to interpret Scripture any way they chose if it were deemed "impossible" for man to live up to a certain set of standards outlined in the Word. They gladly lived up to what they understood, allegorized the rest, and seperated or sifted it out of their way of thinking. Religion was planted as a seed in man's mind from the moment Adam and Eve sinned. Remember when they first realized they were naked? The Bible says that they "sewed together fig leaves" as a way of COVERING their nakedness (sin). This was man's first act of religion, trying to justify his/her actions by his/her OWN HAND. We're still living under that"curse" today and have spent CENTURIES killing one another in the name of "preserving and forwarding the truth" when the Bible plainly states that there is "ONE Lord, ONE faith, ONE baptism, ONE God and Father of all who is above all, through all and in you all"! So, in conclusion to this horribly long rant, I must say that I concur with your monotheistic approach to religion and hope that something of what I based my opinion on makes sense! Have a great day!

Good question. Religions are brought by Prophets or Manifestations of God. God sends down His Manifestation from time to time to teach man the same good things. The only difference is that: what people practised in those days might be difficult comprehend today. Therefore, His Manifestations bring different approaches to teach us what is easier for us to understand.
What was brought by Krishna in His time could only be understood for so long, and then came Buddha, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and then Muhammad, The Bab, and now, Baha'u'llah, to renew the same teachings that Krishna first brought, but in a whole different manner. And no two true Manifestations of God appeared at the same time, right? But you were definitely right that we all believe in the same God. Hope my answer helped.

several reasons:
1. some people like to fuss
2. many of the religions teach that their particular view of how to approach this one God is the only way that will be successful
if you believed that I would fail to achieve salvation, or enlightenment, or heaven if I didn't believe your way, then I would hope you would try to help me succeed by sharing (and maybe fussing)
if somebody believes I am headed for eternal damnation I think it is only considerate of them to at least try to help me out
3. some religious activity comes not from spiritual roots but from social and economic roots, meaning part of the fuss comes from people trying to secure power, influence, or money
so, I think you are right that isms cause shcisms, but for many people the saving truth is in the ism and nowhere else, so for them the ism is the thing that matters

Its not a fuss Its a discussion. Father God yes but Jews dont think Jesus is the savior. They believe a 2000 year old lie...its sad cuz Jesus is the only way to eternal life. Why just live for 75 yrs? Life is pointless without hope. THE TRINITY IS NEEDED FOR SALVATION ....any religion without that are lying to the ppl....Do we want lies or truth??

I'm not an expert, but here's my take on it:
Most people figure that something as big and awesome as the universe, and the powers behind it, must be tremendously complicated. (I actually suspect the universe may be quite simple. But it's all relative, though: Even something a simple as a paperclip would be incomprehensible to an ant. In other words, our inability to comprehend the universe may be the problem, rather than its true nature.)
So to make religions convincing, the people who create them adorn them with all kinds of ritual. In fact, in general, the more details things have, the more we humans tend to believe them. (Even if all the details are complete goofiness, I guess we like to think it's been well-researched. :?)
Also, faith---by definition---is a decision to believe something you can't prove. In other words, it's an emotional decision, one based on feelings rather than direct experience. And there's no better way to arouse feelings than with time-proven show-business techniques. (Huge buildings with vaulted ceilings; tall stained-glass windows; pipe organs; flowing, ghost-like costumes; long, flowery documents, songs, and dialogue... You're going to tell me this isn't show biz?)
New religions (and sub-religions, and sub-sub-religions, etc.) are usually started by people who seek power. To do this, they must create intriguing variations in the ritual details, and by convincing potential followers that _their_ variations are more valid than all the other guys's variations (during the course of which the pitch-people often fall under the spell of their own charisma, creating an odd sort of vicious faith cycle, for lack of a better term).
So, because the variations on these details are the basis on which people decide which religion to adhere to, it gets tremendously competitive, fine-grained, and wacky, and you end up with the kind of "we've got to be right, because we've got all these cool details" fervor we see now.
Hope this helps.
