I'm about to move to the air base where my husband works as enlisted personnel. I'd really like to find a civilian job on base, so I won't have to travel far. My first choices would be the base library or commissary. What kinds of offices and departments hire civilian spouses? Thanks.

When you get to your base check with the Civilian Personnel Office. They will be able to tell you what jobs are available for Civil Service. The Commissary and BX will hire independent of the CPO office since they are not direct government workers. If you are looking at Civil Service then go with CPO. Otherwise just apply within the BX or Commissary.

Like another poster said, check with the Family Support Center as well for non Civil Service jobs.

Good luck!

Many of the different services hire civilians. The BX, commissary, bowling alley, etc...etc...etc..... Check into it when you get there.

Most bases have an ombudsman who helps military spouses obtain employment. You can check with Family Services.
