They are - but you really have to be careful about the safety here. Tables get jostled, people put stuff on tables, people move tablecloths - so the candles would have to be ultra-safe. For example, like in the holders you use, or the type of candles (tapers are probably the most dangerous).

Absolutely! I say anything goes (within reason) when it comes to planning your own wedding. And candle centerpieces are appropriate in just about any setting.

My suggestion? Perhaps a hurricane lamp or some sort of enclosure for your candle(s). It will make for a safer environment. Perhaps a hurricane lamp with lovely flowers circled around the bottom and a nice pillar inside.

Candles are always appropriate. They are a traditional centerpiece and most people love the romance they add.

Add something at the base since the flame won't be a big draw during the day. Your candles should also have a base to sit in for stability and to avoid any mess from the wax, even if you don't light them.

Yes, they are great centerpieces. I used them but we didn't light them. They are beautiful when you set them on a mirror. It looks real elegant. Also you can get a candle or flower ring (I can't remember what they are called) but you put flowers around the candle & sit it on the mirror. Very cute!
Good luck with your wedding!!

Yes but you have to be careful as could start a fire. My fiance bought the ones that look like candles but are actually lights operated by battery.

Yes candles would be appropriate however due to fire hazards you might want to use flameless candles... All the beauty of candles without the danger of an open flame...

Yes they are appropriate. Be careful because since they would be burning for a while they may overheat and cause a fire.
