Yes, you definitely can. If you want the same taste as brown sugar, remove a tablespoon of the measured white sugar and replace it with one tablespoon of molasses.
(That's all brown sugar is, white sugar with molasses in it)

White sugar makes baked goods sweeter and crispier than if you had a mixture of brown and white sugar together.
I would add honey, dark molasses and maybe 2 tablespoons less white sugar per 1/2 cup of brown sugar you are replacing.

If using Splenda just use the same amount per measure as white sugar.

When I was little and didn't know any better, I made a delicious recipe of mixing brown sugar with butter and eating with a spoon. SO CRUNCHY MMMM. Now I know better, and I realize that if I had made it with white sugar it wouldn't have tasted anywhere as good. So maybe it works the other way around. This is a terrible answer.

Brown sugar is actually molasses and white sugar. So, if you have the molasses, I would look up a substitution recipe for brown sugar on the internet. Good Luck!

If you do, you are going to get a variation in the recipe and how it tastes, because the brown sugar is less refined than the white. It will just taste different, not necessarily worse.

Sugar substitutes: Honey (but decrease amount of liquid), corn syrup (once again decrease liquid), molasses (same thing), white sugar and brown sugar can be exchanged with only a slight taste difference, powdered sugar is another substitute.

Unlikely when cooking. But definitely not when baking. Maybe add some molasses to some white sugar.

I do not like brown sugar because it is less sweet. However optically it looks attaractive especially the shaped brown cubes. I guess your recipe will be more healthy but less tasty with it.
