I really would do nothing more than a light stretch now to prevent tearing of the now aggravated muscle. It would be better to get some of the pain and inflamation cream and massage that in to the sore areas as well as get a good alkaline supplement like Nemabase (even Alka-selzer gold can help) to rebalance the acidity levels in your system. Most of the pain you feel in your muscles is being caused by the acid build up from your work out. Before you try this type of exercise again be sure to get qualified advice on how to work up to, warm up for, maintain during and cool down after. These are all crucial to avoiding sports injury while maximizing results and fun. Don't let this experience deter you, just learn from it and move on with greater knowledge.

Don't worry about it... sounds like typical muscle fatigue. I'm guessing you don't do this too often. The best thing to do is slow stretching of the affected muscles, three or four times throughout the day. Try to rest as much as you can during the day, either lying or seated. For stretching try each of these:
1) While standing, bend over to touch your toes. Don't 'bob' up and down, just slowly bend and reach for your toes keeping your legs straight and stiff, and hold for 20 seconds.
2) While standing, use your right hand to balance yourself. Bend your left leg up behind you and grab your foot with your left hand. Gently pull up on your foot and try to touch it to your rear end. Hold for 10 seconds, then do it to the other side.
3) Stand with a chair a few feet in front of you. Step forward while keeping your back foot flat on the floor and your back knee straight as you lean forward. Lean forward as far as you can while keeping your back foot flat on the ground. You should feel a stretch in your back calf. Hold for 10 seconds and repeat with the other side.
Do this a few times during the day and rest... should feel better in a day or 2. Fair warning, sometimes it hurts worse the second day! It should only feel fatigued; no sharp pains or it may be something worse. Watch for any discoloration or swelling to make sure its nothing more serious.

Well if you haven't run much before, that's pretty common since the muscles in your legs are not used to the workout you put them through. It's like that for any exercise.
Best thing for you to do is rest them, don't do any running today. The more you run, the stronger and more resistant your muscles will become and you will be able to run everyday without feeling major effects the next.
I used to run all the time but the shock on my knees and ankles were too much so I started using an olyptical trainer. Much easier on the joints.

Depending on your age. Have you had serious leg or hip injuries before? They may be acting up. See a doctor.
If you think it is not that serious, then just rest.
If you have had your period recently, it might be due to deficiency in blood. Take some iron tablets and pills for menstrual cramp too.

you should have done lots of muscle stretching exercises before, next time remember lots of different stretching exercises for at least 10 minutes minimum, learn from your mistakes, you must suffer to learn sometimes sorry but that's life,.... meanwhile have a hot bath or Jacuzzi or sauna for half hour that sometimes helps and drink lots of water and maybe try muscle creams if you dare (they really burn and irritate´).... sauna always helps me 3 or 4 hours later i am fine unless its really serious like you cant walk then you must have a doctor come to you, l.o.l

Take a day off and take it a little easier on yourself. You don't want to demotivate yourself by associating a lot of pain with exercise. A little pain is fine but it shouldn't be painful.
Then tomorrow, try it at a little slower pace and work your way up gradually.

Drink some fluids and relax... Try to stay off your feet for the weekend, too... Just rest up and try jogging it next time... Start off with shorter distances... If you're training, the axiom is true: No pain, no gain... But, you CAN overdo it, which you probably have...

Stretch and drink plenty of water, it most likely is lactic acid buildup. The best thing to do is to stay active so this will go away.
