Can't happen. Religion works too well as a social control for those in power, so they will insure the indoctrination continues. Those with the courage and curiosity to overcome the demand for conformity and mindless obedience and think for themselves will always be in the minority.

I really wish some people would get real. I mean, doesn't it seem a bit too outlandish to belive in a magical land where we go when we die? Especially when we do good things? Please, please tell me what is good? What is Evil? I think people are starting to think now. I feel sorry for the people that believe in the fairy tale that is spun every day. Religion will get us nowhere when push comes to shove. Scratch that last sentence. Religion has caused almost every war to be all the 'peace' that those practicioners try to get us to believe and it will stay that way. When push comes to shove, religion will just get us deeper in the hole it has dug us already. If all religions were all peaceful and whatnot, then I ask to explain where the peace comes from violence. What is an atheist? Are atheists the people that dont believe in any religion at all, or are they the people that dont believe in a deity? Think about it. I dont think atheists will outnumber all religions, just the ones that believe in a deity. All this heaven and hell is just blasphemy. We die, we dont go anywhere but 6 feet underground.

Not ever likely to happen. Becaue people are turning New-agey so they can do whatever they want. I think all the confused people are going to outnumber the solid believers, and its going to be a mass of confusion in the Age of (mis)information. Probably before another generation is up. Atheists are a dying breed and their position is becoming more untenable by the day.

I merely got here back from the destiny and performance to allow you to do not ignore that quickly you'll see a chip implanted in a human mind which will enable for a "God" or "No God" placing. curiously adequate, the more beneficial human beings set their brains to operate in "No God" mode, the earlier the human race will attain mixed enlightenment. you're observing round the year 3428 of the hot era, which starts right this moment after human beings are almost wiped out through waring church homes interior the year 2027 of the present era.

Let's look at mythological history.

How long did the Greek and Roman gods take to transition from 'religion' to 'mythology?'

Zeus didn't have Mel Gibson making movies about him either, so this might stretch the timeline out a bit longer.

As long as religion has less and less effect on the governments controlling the masses, it'll be okay. When someone claims god is telling them how to lead a country, there's trouble brewing.

Science, logic, and fact will evolve to be standards in society, but it'll take a few more generations at least.

This list is incomplete; you can help by expanding it.
Of the 6,450,000,000 people on Earth as of June 2005, as published by the United States Census Bureau,

5,208,000,000 followed world's five largest religions (non religious numbers given for comparison).
Estimates:

Christianity - 2.129 billion (2004 est., CIA)
Islam - 1.476 billion (2005 est., CIA)
Atheist / Non Religious - (1.162 billion 1994 USCB)
Hinduism - 1.05 billion
Buddhism - 708 million
Adherents sometimes give much higher figures for example:

Buddhism - 1.6 billion [1]
Note that these figures may incorporate populations of secular/nominal adherents as well as syncretist worshippers, although the concept of syncretism is disputed by some.

So it looks like not too soon. No guess at all, even should the earth be thrown into a world nuclear war, it would drive people to religion, not away.

In the Uk the rate of church goers is reckoned to be around about 2% in 2025, currently is about 8%. This is only based on Christians groups not of other faiths. But assumption that we never will out number the believers depends on several factors that people are not taking into account.

Well, considering that half the population doesn't belong to any church, and half of all marriages end in divorce (which is supposed to be a sin), I suspect the non-believers may be closing in on the theists already. Most people just cherry-pick the parts of the bible they want to believe, or just have vaguely-defined "spiritual" feelings -- it's now just a matter of overcoming the stigma around the name "atheist", and getting people to be a little more intellectually honest with themselves about the absurdity of scripture, until it dawns on them that they really DON'T believe, after all...

That's like asking; in what year will those that like Dr. Pepper outnumber those that like Pepsi. But does that mean either one is better? No

Personal preference.

Keeping score has nothing to do with believing or not believing.

My personal opinion, though yours may differ.

That may already be, did you know that there are over 1 billion people in China, which is four times the population of the U.S. and most of them are atheists. I hope that there are always believers. At least a belief in something better. Our country was based on beliefs that there was a better way of life. Beliefs give us hope for a number of different things.
