I sweep with the broom before vacuuming, as I have 5 huge hairy dogs and 1 small hairy dog in my home..the hair is picked up very well by the stiff broom..For hair on smaller areas, such as car seats and couch, the flat comb..3 for a dollar, from WalMart works great..It is a nubby flat comb, like an oval disc..with the finger hole...also called the G.I. comb.
