I don't not think it would be rude. I would simply tell them I was concerned the check had not been recieved and could they please verify the date it was sent. People call us at work about missing check all the time. They won't mind.

If by "them" you mean a law office handling the estate (or the like) then NO that is not rude.
If you mean some other family member who might have been executor over the will or estate...yes....I'd wait a little longer if they were only to go out last week - if you can't and have no other means to pay (as in a credit card which is better anyway)..then call and explain nicely why you are asking about it.
Good luck in all.

Would it be rude to see if Granny's money is going to be there in time to bail you out? Yes- unless that is why she gave it to you.

Would it be rude to politely check to make sure that something did not get lost in the mail? No, not after a reasonable wait. A week is pretty short- it seems very pushy. I'd wait at about another week before making the inquiry.

it is absolutely not being rude! that is $ your grandma wanted you to have so you have every right to know when to expect it and tell who ever you call you are just checking to make sure they did send the $ out and you where getting a little worried that possibly it got lost in the mail since you haven't received it yet but remember the mail might be a day or so late this week since Monday was Labor Day

You can ask the court for an extension to make payment. Just tell them honestly when you will be able to pay, and make sure you pay on or before that agreed upon date.

I have to ask though... How were you planning on paying these costs? Were you planning on granny passing away?

No it wouldn't be rude. Just call and ask when the check was mailed as you want to be on the lookout for it. It's not rude nor unwise to want to be sure you receive something so valuable in the mail.

Sorry about your grandma. :-(

DO NOT depend on one check to pay the other

place your current court costs on a credit card---that will allow u 30 days and to make time payments if necessary

no, you're just calling to confirm that the check was sent. you dont need to say anything about why you need the money.

Since its your money you have the right to ask about it. but keeping the situation in mind make sure that you are extra polite.

No. It is never rude to ask to check on something that should have been but has not been done.
