There are hundreds of very different jobs either group of engineers can do. I myself work for a NASA contractor as what's called a Manufacturing Engineer. Even though I got my degree in aerospace. It doesn't really matter what your degree is in (at least if you only have an undergrad)... If you have grad school in a certain major, especially if you have a PhD. then your major will most likely be your job. However, engineers for the most part work multiple jobs no matter what their undergrad was in. I work with mechanical, aero, chemical, and electrical engineers mostly. Civils aren't usually hired to build rockets, as their specialty is statics... and since a rocket moves, that really doesn't help :) Civils will design buildings, platforms, and sometimes structures for spacecraft...
