Sometimes they just tend to see the majority. And also, BAD things are more obvious than GOOD things. Just shrug it off, don't let it get you all worked up. When you hear adults talking about teenagers being rude and disrespectful, don't pay them any mind, knowing that they couldn't possibly be talking about you. Unless they straight out say YOU'RE rude and disrespectful...just ignore it.

Adults don't always look down on teens. I have a teenage daughter myself that I'm having problems with and she thinks she is a know it all and she has NO respect for anyone not even herself. Teenagers have this problem with their mouths. For some reason they seem to think they should run it all the time. Have you ever thought that maybe adults are just looking out for the welfare and well being of a teenager? We as adults know the bad things that can happen to teens and we try to prevent anything from happening. but teens don't see it that way. They just see it a adult and parents are being hard on them. When in reality we are just trying to protect our kids.

Two reasons most adults are taller. Second most teenagers are rude. Some are very rude and it shows in their attitude to older people. There is little respect amongst young people for anything. Their attitude to school, parents and authority leaves a lot to be desired. However you are also right there are good teenagers and we should do all we can to make sure they are looked after. It is a lack of discipline in the home and at school that is the cause and a weak government.

Some adults will look down on teenagers because they basically think: they have their whole life ahead of them and seem to be wasting it away and making life more difficult for other people and yet these teenagers seem so pleased with themselves when they are storing up problems for the future.
Some adults look down on teenagers because the teenagers seem fresh faced and carefree and to be so much more fun and opportunities than the adults did. The adults basically think that the teenagers are either naive or know-it-alls.
Either way, many adults seem to feel uncomfortable with people younger than them and they forget that if these teenagers took every adults advice they would end as cynical and bitter as many adults do.

We only look down on the ones who ask impertinent questions on websites, thinking they are being cool.
I have no problems with teens, after all i was one myself only 11 years ago....oh the memories.
it just seems that more and more youngsters are getting above their station and are showing little or no respect to older people. If i spoke to some my age when i was 13/14 the way Ive been spoken to recently my Dad would have leathered me
I was at a football game and the tanoy told the fans to stay off the pitch or the team would not come out for a lap of honour, obviously a number of folk didn't heed this and one 12 year old jumped the barrier next to me so i grabbed him and stopped him, honestly the language that spouted from him was horrendous, unluckily for him i had had a few beers before the game so he got better than he could give in the end i said i would drag out of the ground and give him the kick in he thourghouly deserved and i would care of the consequesnses, his 3 freinds soon had 2nd thoughts about jumping the barrier near me and moved on

So, you don't like it when adults generalize about teenagers, but you generalize about adults? Isn't that a double standard? Not every adult thinks all teenagers are fresh (I think that's what "cheeky" mean.) and show no respect. We tend to hear about and see those who don't more readily because they stick out rather than the "good guys," but we don't think all teens are the same.

I really do not think all of us adults behave in this way, just as I am sure not all teenagers are cheeky and show no respect.
But perhaps if you widened your social circle or participated in other pursuits that gave you access to adult interaction you might realise that we are really no different from you just a little more discreet.
Have some conversation with your Parents, its a really good start.

Hi,
I have to say I can distinguish the difference between a bad teenager and a good one, I have 4 children and 2 of them are teenager's sometimes they were naughty other times they were really good, there is a lot of naughty ones out there now and because there are so many a lot of adults don't really see the good ones because they are lost in the large crowd of bad ones, I'm afraid to say it's up to you to show people that you are in fact a good one and be proud that your not one of the bad ones.

I don't look down on teenagers. I remember how I was as a teenager myself. I do understand their behaviour and though it is getting rougher and more a-social I think that if we would critisize less and smile some more. They would start thinking for themselves. I do get fed up with kids that don't show any respect to other people but hey, they got to live with themselves. And don't forget as society is getting worse over time. They will have an even worse future than us. Sadly but true

Because I haven't seen a good teenager lately. All the ones I see are the ones that stand in the middle of the street talking and could care less that someone is driving down the street. Or those who keep walking or riding their bikes in the middle of the street and won't move over. Mind you we do have sidewalks. Or cuss you out because you asked them nicely if they could move so you could pass without hitting them. Or the ones who damage other people's property. Or the ones who break glass all over the street. Or the ones who give you a finger because you honked your horn when they ran out in front of your car. Or those who think they own the street and cuss you out for getting in their way.
Should I go on? It's teenagers like that who make the other teenagers look bad.
