Please do not answer with, “Because it was inspired by God”. Do you have proof of that? How do you know that these men were divinely inspired by God to write the Bible? Who told you that, besides the men that wrote it, and the people that have believed in it?
Is the truth really in the bible or is it really in your faith?
BTW by telling me I’m going to hell, I’m going to burn, and calling me an atheist (which I’m not! I believe in a God but not the bible), is not bring me closer to your so-called heaven now is it? I thought Christians are suppose to enlighten us “heathens” and show us the path through righteousness, not through your hate. So show me the path…….

Underoath - Historically correct???? How so? Or do you mean that it can be traced historically? U saying historically correct is like saying that these historians have found physical proof that there is a God.

Steven S - You’re and idiot living in your own special world huh? If the bible is true because it says it’s true then anything anyone else writes who claims that they were divinely inspired by God that says the bible is false then it must be false (LOL)…..and you’re the main reason why I don’t believe in it….a believer like you must have sent plenty of non-believers to your so-called hell with an attitude like that! Thank you!

Dont you hate those that respond with ..... Bible Quotes?!?!? How is reading a document that states it is the word of God PROOF that it is indeed the word of God? I have a book that says wizards fly....is that truth?? Id also like to point out that people telling you that you are going to burn in hell is not going to bring THEM any closer to the Heaven they beleive in either, as it is judgemental, which is against what their Lord teaches. But they are hypocrites and will never understand this....
After citing passages in the Bible as proof, some will also say how the Bible so far has predicted many events. But the truth to this is that the "events" predicted were done so through intrepretation of passages....and lets face it, the Bible was written in such a way that it can be interpreted in ANY fashion, if one wishes to bend it to fit their needs. And, just because there are some historical facts inside the Bible doesnt prove squat either - because if it does, then I would argue that The Da Vinci Code also contained some historical facts, so it too must be true and absolute....
Truth is, the Bible is a work of fiction. How do I know? Well, for starters, they found out that whales are mammals and not fish, as described, and bats are also mammals, not birds as described in the Bible. There is no evidence for a world wide catastrophic flood. When I was a Christina, I prayed and prayed - and never once was any prayer answered, despite what the Bible states (that ALL Prayers are answered.)
So, you will get a lot of BS responses, but I certainly hope you dont swallow any of them....

For those who dispute that the bible's text is accurate:
There is no question over the wording of 98.5 percent of the Bible. Despite the centuries of copying the OT/NT Biblical manuscripts, only 1.5% contain any questions on content/wording (BTW: the NT is 99.5% accurate to original wording). No ancient writings of the entire world approach the accuracy of the Biblical documents.
That 1.5 percent does not affect any doctrinal beliefs. The vast majority of those variants consist mainly in variations of wording and spelling.
People can reject the Bible if they want, but they should at least have the intellectually honesty to admit that it is a very reliable document.
Why should you believe it?
Yes, It does claim to have been inspired by God. I understand (and agree) that that is not in anyway a "proof" in itself. The underlying question is does it back up that claim? In my opinion, it does.
There are many people who want to paint the Bible as "pure invention". This notion is absurd to anyone who has the slightest knowledge of archeology. The places, people, and events have been shown to be accurate time after time.
Secondly, there are scores of amazing prophecies that have been fulfilled (e.g.- read Isaiah 53 & Psalm 22 and then read the Gospel accounts of Christ's suffering and death).
Finally, the Bible (despite being written over a 1600+ year period by 46 different authors) contains a cohesive theme and message. The manner in which some things are interwoven through all the books is rather amazing. While some would distort the Bible's message for personal reasons, it has also touched and changed many lives.
The Bible and faith go hand-in-hand....

I'm not sure you're asking the right question. Because the bible can be inerpreted in any multitude of ways, your answer is yes and no. Were Adam and Eve the first humans? Not likely. Archeology and geology will show quite the contrary. Did Moses part the sea? Also, not likely. There may have been a low tide. Why aren't Dinosaurs mentioned in the bible since they clearly were here before any humans? Good question.
Still, this does not make the bible worthless. The bible is quite a book because it can be left to interpretation, which makes it possible for anyone and everyone to get some kind of value from it.
As far as the moral values described in the bible, you will find that those morals already exist in animals that live in communities. Chimps, rats, wolves...they all do not tolerate adultery, stealing, murder...etc. It is perfectly natural to follow these guidelines as they exist in nature, independently of humanity.
I could go on and on.

The books of the Old Testament in their present form were probably written after the return of the Jews from the Babylonian captivity i.e. after 536 BC. Those of the New Testament were collected and accepted as legal in the fourth century after Christ (about 367 AD.). Besides the Four Gospels (describing the life and teachings of Christ) which are in the Bible there are a number of other Gospels which were not accepted by the Church elders, and some of them are available even today. The books which could have formed part of the Bible, and indeed were and are accepted by some Christians, but which the main body of the Christian Church rejected, are called the Apocrypha, a Greek word meaning ‘Hidden”, but which now has wrongly been understood as meaning “false, not genuine”. The officially accepted books are called ‘Canonical”. It is these canonical books of the Bible which are regarded as THE WORD OF GOD.

exactly what u say is true.We must get enlightened. This is what god exactly expects.Ok but to get enlightened what u require.U need a guidence. This is what bible is teaching.See people in ancient days were ignorant and what they need a confidence in something, for that words of wisdom and some do's and dont's are required.U said that men were inspired by god to write bible. But iam asking u ask urself whether is there anything which is bad with bible.Ofcourse people or some scriptures ll say that u will go to hell if u dont follow the rules.See they are saying this only to make u move in the right path. And to instill confidence in people,to make them feel that god is there to help they had written bible in the name of god.instead of analysing whether bible is true or false see the good side of it.All the things that is given there is only like a confidence boost. If u believe in god and dont believe in bible............Well dont be afraid u will not go to hell.Believe in god and whatever u do act according to ur own conscience and if u have doubts u can refer bible if u believe it.
And u asked about the path, well have trust in god and dont analyse whether bible is true or not and above all search sites regarding self realisation a pathway to god.ok and to conclude
It is really in your faith that matters.god wants us not to be ignorant.

It's all a matter of faith. I believe that the Bible was inspired by God but that man, being fallible and human, put their own interpretations on it. I could be wrong but that's the only way I can explain why the Bible is so contradictory. One of the 10 commandments is "Thou shalt not commit adultery". Adultery is having sex with someone other than your spouse but there are instances in the Old Testament where it tells about men having concubines as well as multiple wives and impregnating the concubines. They were commiting adultery and were rewarded for it. I can't believe that God would be OK with this. I could keep going but I'll spare us all. Good luck in your quest for the truth.

Your question is flawed because it presumes that you cannot simply have faith in the bible being the inspired word of God. However you believe in God, when other than pure faith you would not be able to.
Its more accurate to call you an agnostic than an Atheist.
The bible is a library of books. The Catholic church spent years pouring through texts assembling, discovering what was inspired. If you are Catholic, its enough to say that the church believes it to be inspired, many protestants purely rely on the bible as its guide, and that is mere faith.
If you require proof to believe you are agnostic.

We don't know the Bible is really true, and the Bible means different things to different people, but it all comes down to personal faith. I think the Bible gives us a good cultural history of the people who initially believed in one God, and perhaps a weak roadmap and instructions for living in the New Testament, but unfortunately through nearly a millenia of translations, interpretations, manipulations, additions, and subtractions, it's simply a document with more symbolic meaning than trustworthy words. Personal faith determines how much stock you place in it, and it is perfectly possible to be a Christian and believe in God, but think the Bible isn't the word of God, or the last word of God.

Because you reflect on it and something inside you relates to and understands it, it calls out to your heart (If your heart is for God's plan, understanding and reasoning for creating life as He did for the reasons He did and in the way He did. )
and then.. you simply make a choice! To believe, without any proof that any MAN could give you to back the things of the one who created him. Decide for yourself, through faith, that God is greater than... and that He IS the intelligence missing in the scientific premise that says that Bio organic matter was brought about by random chance and evolution... Yeah right random chance and the right place at the right time is what makes life an INTELLIGENCE... not just a blob of in-adamant flesh and bone.
It is easy not to believe in the Bible. It is easy to take the guide book for humanity and toss it out the window freeing yourself from all responsability and all accountability. The world without it would be complete and utter chaos. and the people who claim it, change it and add and remove things to it to suit their purposes are the reasons it doesn't work and things are as bad as they have gotten despite its obvious presence all through out time as we know it... In and of itself. (If you actually read it) it is the wisdom of the ages, the blueprint of humanity and the guidebook to teaching the soul how to become.

You're gonna burn in hell heathen!!!! LOL, just kidding. You hit it on the head, we don't know. Nobody knows for sure, not even Christians. They think they know but they are just doing what they are told. The truth is it does not matter, there is only one thing that is true. That's is peace, goodness, love and understanding. These are things that we know for sure exist, and they will never be corrupted by man the way spirituality has by the so-called religions of the world. So just believe and focus on these virtues, everything else falls into place.
