I am Greek
for centuries Turkey and Greece have been the worst enemies
Pontos, Cyprus, Istanbul, izmir, Marmaris
are some of the lands that once belonged to Greece but now to Turkey
many fights
many wars
many people killed
both sides are taught to hate each other
and yes i admit that we still have many differences many things to be solved-
so many things are between us - separate us
but i must also admit that there are many things that bring us together-
Both our countries are connected to each other
same history
same cousin
same music
and even common words
are a strong bound
so much different and so much alike, Greece and Turkey will go on making history with their own unique way
but on the end i must add
fanaticism and politics is 2 basic factors that create hate, terror, wars and bring dichotomy to people
the simple people of both countries are very openhearted with strong beliefs, like celebrating a lot, easy going, hospitable....and so much more
maybe a journey to the 2 countries of Aegean will convince you all for this
Best Regards to all

I love them, I'm a Turk. Turkish culture is very diversified because it's a mixture of many diferent ethnic groups from different religions, from east and west. It's one of the most colorful cultures I think. Turkish people are very hospitable in general.
And I say this because Western people think that Turks are Arabic. No, old Turks came to Anatolia from middle Asia not middle east. The only relation with Arabic countires is by geography and religion. Turkish is a completely different language from Arabic. If anything, English is closer to Arabic than Turkish because they're in the same language family. But Turkish is in the same family as Korean and Japanese.
Oh and reply to the above statement Turks did not invade Armenia! Read some history!

A good way to understand modern Turkey is to read
Birds Without Wings by Louis de Bernieres
This is a first rate novel in its own right, but it explains a lot about present day relationships between Turkey/Greece/Armenia and the Kurds.
I live in Kibris (Turk Cyprus). I have a lot of Turkish friends.

I know very little about modern Turkey and I try not to make judgements of an entire people. I know they used to make great handwoven rugs and the brasswork is on a par with Egyptian (which is excellent). I have no concept of modern Turkey. Other than they are mostly Islamic, I know nothing.
You could say modern Turkey needs to do more publicity.
English is not related to Arabic, by the way. It has its roots in the Slavic languages with a lot borrowed from the Romance language group.

Does everything include "Turkish Delight" - I love it. I also believe that people who steal in Turkey get their hands cut off (probably not still true these days) but that's a pretty good idea too !

Not a great fan of the turkish only because my wife was robbed there on holiday afew years ago. I found a copper and told him and he shrugged and laughed at me andsaid something in turkish to another copper and they both started pissin themselves with laughter. We were then left with no more money for the rest of the holiday.
When I got home I complained to the turkish embassy in london with the coppers bagde number and his registration from his car but they didn't even acknowledge my letter.

They invaded Armenia for no reason. They took 90% of their land and tried to convert half of the Armenians to other religions. Armenia was nearly defenceless at the time, but Russia stopped the invasion from fully executing. To this date, Turkey still possesses 90% of Armenian land, and the worst fact is that they deny that there ever was an Armenian genocide! Millions of people were dead and they deny it!
