Pets are not wild animals therefore the answer to your question is NO. Think about it this way, your pet is used to living a certain lifestyle and to be put out into the wild with no skills to survive is cruel just the same as if you were to be put out into the wild and expected to survive.

NO!! Pets were not brought up in the wild. It is acutally far more cruel than taking them to the pound. They don't have the survival skills and are at the mercy of wild animals and cruel humans as well as cars and traffic. Its cruel on every level. No pet deserves that kind of fate!
Don't get me wrong, I am not preaching at you, just stating how I feel and I am really glad that you put this question out there! It will make people think! So thanks!!!!

Animals that have been bred as domesticated pets are not better off. Though they still have some of the instincts of their wild counterparts, they are not up to par to live on their own. Not to mention they would be forced into high traffic, over populated areas where they can be in more danger of getting hurt or getting a disease that their bodies are not made to fight off.

Ummm.... No! They would die from hunger, get hit by a car, and all manner of things. Wild animals belong in the wild. Domestic animals need care from humans.

No. Our pets are generally domesticated animals that are at least partially, if not totally, dependent on their owners for their needs. Most cats can kill a bird or mouse, for instance, but few have ANY idea that it could be eaten as food!

No because they no longer know how to fend for themselves in the wild since they have become domesticated. They depend on humans for food and shelter.

Noooo. Not in the slightest.
Outdoor cats live shorter lives than their indoor counterparts. They're subjected to diseases, parasites, predators, people, and traffic. Sure, they're happy roaming around outside.....but my son's happy wandering the streets by himself. That doesn't mean I should let him or that he's better off there.
