This is the third gay pet question since I've been coming here....and I haven't been here long.
No, pets are not gay. Animals are driven by instinct, not emotion. And one of their major instincts is to mate.....sometimes they'll jump on whatever's around. Doesn't mean they're gay.
And Mighty Power7 brought up something that totally flew past me. The dominance thing.

I'm sorry, obbydemon, they aren't gay because they are too smart?! So people are only gay because they're dumb? Good luck defending yourself with that one.
No, pets can not be gay. As others have said, mating of animals is for procreating. Procreating is not possible when two of the same sex mate; therefore, there is no reason to do so. Mounting is not always sexually driven - it can be for control, as well.

Umm no pet's aren't gay! they go off instect. and if you think that your pet is gay because he or she humps another animal of the same gender you are wrong. the resaon behind this is that your animal is trying to establish the dominate role! hope that helps

Well there was a gay dog in south park and i did see a dodgy proramme a few years back on gay animals, but it was more monkeys and animals like that rather than cats and dogs.
I suppose it is possible to have a gay pet but its unlikely i think.

I dont think pets are "one way or another". In the case of the penquins who were "gay" and were trying to have a nest and care for young - I think they dont see the sex one way or another. But, one the other side of the coin, there have been monkeys who display homosexual behavior, and refuse to respond to members of the opposite sex even when they are forced to live only with them.

no, pets have no concept of "being gay". they mate in order to procreate and get their genes into the next generation - that's their entire mating drive. if you see one male dog, for example, mount another male dog, that is a sign of dominance, not gayness. the dog doing the mounting is showing that he is dominant over the dog that he's mounting. it's not for sexual purposes - it's for keeping rank within the pack.

I have a female cocker spaniel that has always been attracted to my mother. My mom was the only one that ever did it for her. I also have a beagle that none of my dogs can turn their back on, male or female. He always does this when the others are busy playing. His way of participating? Da know?
