You can get inexpensive business suits made in Bangkok for less than $50 USD; there are many such places there. Just check with your hotels' concierge or even ask the taxi drivers.

To get the "classy" suits though, you would need at least $100 USD. The extra $50 USD will buy you some class ;-).

There are more tailor shops than bars in Bangkok. They are all run by Indian guys and have the work done by Thai guys. They all advertise cheap suits ($100 get 2 suits and 2 shirts). But this is a bait-and-switch to get you in the door. THey get you in and show you the material (cheap). If you are OK with cheap wool - no problems (lot of people do that). But if you want a good quality suit you need to get the high quality wool (labor rate is the same for cheap and good wools). This will cost more - but significantly cheaper than a suit somewhere else. You can ask to feel the wool and ask the quality etc. If you don't like the price etc. - just leave - there are a dozen more shops around the corner. I have been to about 3 different ones - quality varied. The best one (out of the 3) was the tailor shop in the Amari Watergate hotel - but there are 1,000's of tailor shops around that are OK too.

Typical budget for suit is about US$100 so you will need to fork out a bit more to have yours done. You will have to scout around. The better ones are those with walk-in customers, not waiting outside to invite you in. Look around Sukhumvit Rd and Pratunam area.

Anyway for that price you will get 2 full suits worth, so just up your expense a bit.
