I highly recommend the Hybrid Escape.
It is THE most fuel efficient SUV
2007's start at about $26g
State & Federal tax incentives to you
Really FUN to drive
Great warranty from Ford (battery is warrantied for 100k mi.)
Very reliable
Low financing available from FMCC
Will do everything the non-hybrid does, except for towing
Actually feels more powerfull than the V6
There isn't ANYTHING better !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(although its "sisters" Mariner & Tribute, are comparable)

I love my 2006 Toyota RAV4! It's considered a small SUV but has lots of room. Most small SUVs do not have enough leg room for the back seat, and no trunk space. The RAV4 has both, plus a hidden storage under the trunk. The prices is also very reasonable. But most of all, a couple of months ago JD Powers calls the Toyota brand "virtually defect free". If you want a reliable SUV that's not going to give you problems, get a Toyota! Of course, the 30 miles/gallon highway is going to help. Even when I have A/C on and driving surface streets, I can get around 25 miles/gallon. A recent consumer report rated the RAV4 the second most fuel-efficient SUV on the market. The first was the Toyota Matrix. I don't consider that a SUV so to me that one doesn't count.

I have a Ford Escape (perhaps i should say my wife does, she does most of the driving, I take the train to work). We've been pretty happy with it.

That said, if it were entirely up to me, I wouldn't buy an SUV at all. They are not good to drive compared to cars, suck up gas and don't have great interior space for the size of the vehicle. But hey, that's just my opinion.

I agree with Thomas. CRV is the way to go...as long as its just for road use. Most small SUVs are just built on car frames so off-road is out! If you plan on a little off road the go with the RAV4. I find the CRV to be a lot more comfortable on road trips.

I drive a 2004 rav 4 from toyota, and I enjoy it. The only thing is there is quite a lot of road noise, but only when you're on the freeway. It handles like a sports car.

Don't buy a SUV. Think about the rising gas prices. It's not practical. Unless you're rich or your parents are rich or something.

No SUVs in any respect. Too tipsy for a amateur motive force. Why does a 19 y/o desire a luxurious motor vehicle besides? they could desire to be concentrated on studying to force, no longer on all those contraptions. Too distracting...

I like the Honda CRV. It is comparable to a RAV4 and unlike the Ford Escape, either of these vehicles will hold their value. They are both also very dependable.
