So Christians believe that Jesus is their savior but that they don't know, they believe. Big difference. If you can't know something, you believe it for some positive gain. Is Christianity just really self-gratifying and that's why it has done so well?
I'm not denying there is a creator, but what makes Christ any different from all the other false prophets

No, you don't know you believe. I believe that George Washington was a real person...do I know? No. If tomorrow they proved GW was not a real person, it wouldn't rock my world...i never worshiped the guy.

Good Question!! Bottom line, most people are afraid to die. They are afraid of the unknown that awaits us all.
Christianity makes people feel better because since we can't avoid dying, we can at least have "comfort" in knowing that if we believe and live right there are good things coming to us as a reward. It takes some if not all the fear out of an unavoidable situation.
This is why Christianity has been so popular with the masses. It makes you feel all warm & cozy inside.
Convenient isn't it??

Most people believe that Christianity is correct for a couple reasons.
1. They were raised in an environment that recognized Christianity as probably the only real religion, but didn't follow it until they had an awakening some time in their life where they chose to not only identify themselves as Christian, but to also start practicing the religion. To them, Christianity was always the answer, they believe they were just in willful denial of the truth before they started practicing.
2. Their previous religion is so obviously proven false by modern science that Christian missionaries can exploit the flaws and convince the potential convert that Christianity is the best answer to their religion's failings.
3. A Christian does not take time to study and make an independent decision about other religions from the perspective of the other religions instead of through the filter of Christianity.
To clarify point #3, let me give you an example.
Most Christians will tell you that Jesus fulfilled the covenant that G-d made with the Jews in the old testament. So they consider the covenant to be part of Christianity and view it from that perspective instead of examining it from the Jewish perspective. If they were to do so, they would realize that G-d specifically said that the covenant was "everlasting". There is no mention anywhere in the old testament that the messiah (literally "annointed king") would be a fulfillment of that covenant.
I will concede the point that the old testament doesn't have to mention such a thing for it to be true, but I still stand by my assertion that the covenant was complete and eternal and it also provided means for forgiveness of sin with and without animal sacrifice. That means that there was no need for some one to come along and "complete" the covenant by becoming a perpetual sacrifice.

Hey that is the best question !!! I love it !! they all don't know and that is the problem you can't do one with out the other I know and i believe that he is. See Christ is different because he died for out sins so by excepting him we are complete forgiving yep washed all way are our sins ( that was a bit Yodaish) but really some people have just been taught and not really getting what he did it is bigger than Sunday church or helping a women a cross the street it is the constant support spiritually that gets us through everything and we will completely fall on our faces again and again some people think they're beyond that ( stay away from them when you see people like that know there world is about to crumbly ) ok check this passage out . this guy was a good guy with alot of pride ... Jonah 1:01; Matthew 12:40 also check this John 3:15
15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but[a] have eternal life.
Compltetly true don't beliave me try it . Good luck

For one, there is significant evidence to prove that Jesus Christ was a living, human being.
The Christian life isn't about gaining for personal reasons. It's a daily sacrifice, giving yourself to others, submitting to Christ, even in minute things. Yes, we get a reward, but look at Jesus. He lived a life full of pain, sacrifice, and then he was tortured and killed. THEN he got his reward. How many of us would go through all that for a simplistic reward? How many of the other "prophets" gave their lives to give the best to others, only to be killed? How much evidence shows that Buddha is real? Or Allah? Since when were they able to rise from the dead? Since when were they able to heal a sick person? Think about it. Research it with an open mind. They didn't. They couldn't heal. They couldn't die, and then rise again. They couldn't, and they CANT because they're dead. Long gone. Never to return. They were humans. When I die, I won't be coming back. Neither will Buddha, or Allah.
As Christians, we make the choice to sacrifice personal immediate gain, to gain the everlasting love and protection of Christ.
As far as faith goes:
Heb 11:1 Faith makes us sure of what we hope for and gives us proof of what we cannot see.

I don't think thats why they've done so well. I think its more about control through fear: 'if you don't do what we say, you'll burn in hell for eternity'. That statement had a lot of power over people up until education was made available for the masses. You have to realize that even today many people can't read or write, and in the Catholic church's prime, the books were even written in latin, so virtually no one outside of the church had access to the writings inside the 'holy' book. Priests literally wore their bibles holstered to their hips like sheriffs in the wild west. It served a very good purpose at the time and of course the power was abused, but we have to see it for what it was: a way to keep a savage people in check. Why not rape and take what I want if I was the last of twelve kids who never got any attention until I was big enough to work a field and was treated like a slave? That was the pervading mentality for thousands of years. The catholic church provided a reason not to. The threat of going to hell. What we're living today is whats left over of a system that can no longer justify itself in the way it did before. The Lutheran movement to make the bible available to the masses was the beginning of the end for catholicism, and education the tool of its destruction.

It does seem confusing... You know after you first believe the possibility. That little bit of faith gives way to knowing without a doubt. That is why Christianity has done so well.
It's kind of like floating in water for the first time. You have faith that the water will hold you up, but you just don't know for sure, because you haven't tried to yet. You let go of your inhibitions and...viola... you float. You know you can float after you first give it a try.
There is a living God, alive and real. He is willing to show himself to those who will simply believe who Christ was and what He did for us. It's that simple. No "getting your life right" required.

By your argument how do you know that there is a creator?
Jesus lived the perfect example of Peace, Love and Forgiveness.
Something that NO PROPHET ever did.
All other prophets had sin, (some worse than others)
Jesus had no sin.
If you are waiting for someone to say, "Yes, I was there" you are not going to get your answer.
Peace, And God Bless you!

Jesus H Christ IS no different from all the other false prophets. Being a "Prophet" these days would probably earn you a prompt sectioning in the local mental hospital.
Christianity and the bible *ARE* very confusing, that kind of thinking is best left in the dark ages where it belongs.

I know that I know that Jesus us the Son of God and my Savior, the bible says it. The bible tells a person, to count the cost , when accepting Jesus as their savior. many have died for the cause of Christ, that doesn't sound like self gratification to me.
