Puppies are easier as they haven't adopted any bad habits yet. But it's never too late to teach an old dog new tricks.

It totally depends on how much time and experience you have. It also depends on the individual dog. If you get an older dog I would try to ensure that it has not been physically abused or overly nervous or protective.

At each stage in life for a puppy you can only teach them so much... but an older dog may take two days to potty train in comparison. It really depends on the amount of time you can devote

I vote for older dogs rather than puppies. 5 out of my 7 dogs were older when adopted. They were so much easier than the puppies!

Pros and cons for each. It partially depends on what you are training. Pups have very short attention spans so they can be difficult to get focused - not a good choice if you are easily frustrated! Older dogs win out for ease of just standard training.

If you are working with a behavior problem, though, pups would be easier because habits are still forming. It's much simpler to teach a pup who has been raiding the trash for two weeks not to do so than to teach a dog that has been doing it for three years not to do so.

It was easier for me to train my puppy than it was for me to train my older dog.

Both can be VERY challenging. An older dog with previous training will be more receptive to it, wheras with a puppy you're starting from scratch. However, an adult dog that has been allowed to bite, poo and pee in the house, dig holes, jump up on people and other bad habits will definatley be harder to train. Either way, obedience classes help IMMENSELY. Education for both you and your dog.

For potty training sometimes adults are easier as they already have control ofthier baldders where puppies do not.
To correct problems puppies are easier as they do not know anything yet and you are starting with a clean slate.
If you work with them and provide consistant rules for them to follow and show them you are the leader most are happy to have a place in the pack and will behave great.

it's easier to train a puppy because an older dog is already set in he' or her ways and it would be hard to break them.

That all depends on the trainer a lot more than the dog.

A bad trainer won't be able to train anything, while a good trainer will be able to train any dog to do anything.

Both puppy and adult of the same breed should be the same challenge to train.

Both are easy to train. Consistancy is the key. Puppies will be a bit easier as they do not have any pre-programing from previous owners.
