makes those tiny croaking noises? is she happy or does she want me to come over and pet her and talk to her? I know when she starts screaming at me it means "come and get me out of here!"

I have had a double yellow-head Amazon parrot for over 30 years. He often makes what we call his "happy noises" when I come over to his cage or give him a treat. I would notice under what circumstances she makes those noises. I can usually tell by my bird's "body language" when he is happy. He often speads his tail and fluffs his feathers. If you bird does this at the time she makes her "croaking" noises, they are probably similar to a cat's purr.

I have a conure (a Peach Front) and he makes the same tiny croaking noises too. I think it's a sign of affection and happines. he really goes into "croaking" overload when I start talking to him. I think it's neat.

Hi don't know much about lbird language, but i can just relate a few views about it.
1)when a bird chirps it means its conversating with its flocks and fleets to be together
2)when they keep chirping every now and then it means its warning
3)when fleet of birds chirp and fly together it means its time to go home or escape
4)some birds croak and change their vocal,in a way it means they are singing or imitating
5)some birds screech either for attention
6)some birds scream to alert that some one is present at that place,it means your attention please etc,etc

To my point of view whether its animals or birds or humans everyone has a more alike nature, when they are calm and look relaxed it definitely means they are happy,a sound of sweet melody or change of of vocal chirps, croaking etc are indication that they are happy.

we can only make conjecture of what it is trying to say. sadly speaking human being still do not have a way to decipher animal talks. we can only use trial an error to determine what its driving at. croak~ approach n see reaction. croak~ try to feed. croak~ try to pet it. croak~ set it free. croak~ croak back

she is trying to talk and she will talk if you keep playing and talking with her, let her out of her cage when you are around and she will come to you without you going over to get her, birds are great friend and they can become a very mess maker, so don't get mad just have fun and enjoy your new feather friend
