I'm really shy and awkward,I'm not good at starting conversations.I'm a bad judge,so take what I say with that in mind. I'm in a class where the teacher puts us in groups. This girl sits around me so she is always in my group. One day she said something to no one in particular.I responded and we started talking about books that she likes to read. For the next few days we walked out of the class down the hall talking to each other. In this class, we also have to do an out of class lab.One day when we were in our groups again she said that she didn't have a lab partner.I told her I would be her partner. So we met and there she started talking about what poetry she likes, how we both have problems when casual writing. We have a test;when we finish we are supposed to leave but I pretended to be working on it until she finished. She beat me to the door, but when I left the room she was outside (don't know if she was waiting on me or just a coincidence) and we walked/talked again. What do I do? Thanks

I would say that you have found a friend, and that there may be the possibility of more, but in my experience, the best way to handle something like this is slowly. Being shy myself, I know that it may be difficult to find out what she really feels about you, for fear that you won't like it. But int he long run, I would guess that you might be best served to assume friends, but be open to something more. And if you feel that she might be open to more, then take initative to take her hand or something similar to show her that you do like her.

You now know she likes to read and you both have the same problems in writing. That's a perfect starting point for a nice conversation over coffee. Take her to a poetry reading or something like that where you can both enjoy yourselves. I'm not sure if she likes you in that way - she may have just found herself a friend who shares her interests and someone she can talk about her fave things with. You, on the other hand probably DO like her so you tend to overanalyze every little detail - which is normal.

Best way, ask her out to a casual date and go from there. Give yourself a few dates and just ask her if she'd like to "go out."

Wow, you dont sound as shy as you say you are. Sounds like you made a connection with this girl. If I were you, I would ask her if she would like to study somewhere. Perhaps at a local coffee shop or library, when you are done studying mention how hungry you are and ask if she would like to join you for a burger or something. Just take things slow, sounds like you are off to a good start.

everyone is going to say, get her #. if i were u, the next time you are walking together, before u leave, hand her a piece of paper with your number on it. i would do it on a friday, that way she can call u over the weekend. also on the piece of paper, i would write "give me a call if you want to talk or if u want to do something over the weekend." the reason i say u should give her your #, is bc girls are use to guys asking for their #, so this way, u dont look like every other guy. if she is interested, she will call. good luck, play it cool and dont be nervous. trust me, she will think its sweet.

Hmmm.... sounds like you've found a friend. Be nice to her, and continue to be a gentleman, but don't jump into a relationship too soon. Friendships last forever.
