Of course it is normal! The adrenaline kicked in and the human "fight or flight" instinct took over. I would be more worried if your pulse rate was 110 when you are on the sofa watching TV.
If you work out and it reaches 145 that also is normal. Only when it remains elevated does it become a problem - in fact 30 mins of high heart rate per day is good for your health!

It is normal to get a rise in pulse and blood pressure under stress. Sudden surprises/fear definitely are stressful. It sounds like your fight or flight response is working well. It depends on how long you meant to calm down - minutes or hours.
I bet you may have thought about the scare, or your reaction to it, and that may have increased your pulse again.

When you were frightened your body produced a ton of adrenaline at once. This is for the "flight or fight" response that our body is preparing for. If there were danger, your instinct is to run away (flight) or defend yourself (fight). Since the situation called for neither one, you noticed the jump in your heart rate.

Its normal.. its called the fight or flight responce.. every person has it, some will always run or always fight, and some both or either, but it can be controlled or even altered, if you understand it is happening, and why it happens.
