you make heaven out to be materialistic. shouldnt you not be worried about "treasures" in heaven but be worried about how your going to get there? my personal view of heaven isnt one of material posessions. i think its a symbol/lure to get greedy type of people to work harder by making them think they are going to be rich in heaven. but then again it depends on your view of what treasure is too i suppose.

If we read it right in the scriptures we are to store up our treasures in Heaven where the moth and rust and thief cannot break in or destroy them. To me that means following that other scripture that says this is religion true pure and undefiled to help the orfan, widow in her distress and others who need help. Not only that but we are to be Jesus to the world so when they see us they're not seeing us they're seeing a reflection of Christ. So in a sense I need to be the best mirror I can be. Get it? Good start of a sermon there. I've heard that preached to me and the church that I attend several times over the years. Some times we hear it but until we put it in action we don't really understand it.

There was a rich old man who hung his gold in bags from the rafters in his attic. One day his grandson asked him why he did this. The old man responded that it was so when he died he could grab them and take them with him on his way to heaven. When the old man passed away, the boy ran to the attic to see if his grandfather was able to do as he said. The bags were still hanging there full of his wealth. As the little boy came back down to where the other people were, he proclaimed; I told him he'd better hang them in the basement.
You may think this is not an answer to your question but it is.

1. Give to the Lord.
Giving to the Lord simply means tithing, donations, offerings and giving to the poor. Poverty lies in the state of mind, not in the physical poverty. God is not against money but is against money having you.
2. Give to the Lord.
Still the same, give up your way of life to the Lord. Change your way of living and glorify God.
3. Give to the Lord.
Again the same, give your time and effort to the Lord. Spend some time understanding God's Word each day. Pray and listen to what God have to say.

The way I see it, the two most important are:
1. Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ
2. Reaching out to your fellow man.
This supports what we are told in the Bible--"Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, mind, and strength" and "Love thy neighbor as thyself." Matthew 22: 37-39

The simple answer is to worship God, which also means obeying his commandments and to have charity helping those that cannot help themselves.
