The world is steady changing. Everybody only cares about themselves. Even people who claim to be Christians or other so called benevolent faiths. Is it the state of the world? Is it society and how hard that people have to work for peanuts? Why is there this air of selfishness, hurry and greed in the world? You can sense it. I'm not saying it was never there before, but there seems to be a megadose of it. Hardly anyone is polite and mannerable anymore, neighbors aren't neighborly as much, and the youth are like hooligans. Why are people choosing to be mean? What's so hard about holding a door for an old lady? What's so hard about saying hello to your neighbor, maybe pulling their wastebin up if they work late? What is it about today's world that is so different from when I was small, just 20 years ago in the 80's. What has shifted? Are people going to just get steadily worse? Or is a revival of humanity due soon? Yes, I do beleive in God. But follow no set beleif system.

It does seem as if the world is hateful and selfish. Of course not all people are this way but the ones that are, are more noticeable aren't they? I have just made a vow that I will not be sucked into the 'group think' of 'me-first-ism' but will continue to be kind, polite and have a positive attitude.

In the Hindu religion this is possibly the era of Kalki. I have included a website if you enjoy reading about other belief systems.---

I read a very similar statement, almost word for word.

Funny thing is, it was written by someone who lived during the Roman Empire. I wish I could find it right now, but I'm serious, almost word for word.

I remember hearing that same statement back in the 60's too.

the world is never as bad as you think. Look at when there is a real problem, like hurricane Katrina, or 9/11. Most people are decent and in tough times they come through. Like any family, we fight like hell, take advantage of and never appreciate each other, it's human nature.

Hey, its nice to read your poser. But be assured, you are not alone, there are many people, who think similarly to you... however in this day and age, people are busy with their own lives, rushing about.... but this dose not mean people do not care...

A question... have you not seen anybody help the blind to cross the street.? Or help somebody fallen down get on their feet.? What about Bob Geldof and the millions that was collected for Africa by Live Aid.? It was possible becase people cared... Have you visited The Hunger Site.? Millions of people click on this site so that food is donated for the hungry, or enviornment protected... etc...

Wow, that's a big question. I truly believe that we have to get better and nicer if we want to avoid exterminating our own race. I want to give you a hug right now so you can feel better (internet is so unpersonal). But rememeber that you can always find good friends and nice people, not everyone is mean. And as Mahatma Gandhi said "Be the change you want to see in the world.", I know you believe in God but you seem spiritually open so I can take the risk to give you a quote by someone who didn't believe in your god.

There is not change, it hasn't always been that way. Ultimately, unless they are members of your tribe or clan, everyone has their own vested self interest. That is what keeps the human race around.
As far as desirable social behavior, you can blame the boomers and me generation for that. After letting it all hang out, they didn't make any attempt to properly habituate their spawn and that has rippled through the subsequent generations. I do miss polite social behavior.

I believe the fast pace of modern society has reduced peoples time for courtesies and pleasentries ....
I don't they are being mean spirited..
They are just in a hurry...
Youth are hooligans because of the "it takes a village" attitude
of abandonment of parental discipline , single parent families and the decline of the extended family...Youth are now raised by their peers.

If you read 2Tim. 3:1-5 you'll see that this is exactly what people would be like in the last days - which is what these are. People are firece, without love of goodness, having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power, etc., etc.
The reason is that Satan is the god of this system of things; and he has great anger, knowing he has a short period of time.
Read your bible and see all these things.

In this day and age, people are being taught from a young age that they don't have to work for things....Instead they are taught that they are owed things. They carry that attitude over to ever day life.

In this day and age, the media is the absolute most destructive force out there. Ads promoting a certain image and glorifying destructive behavior. Shows that make fun of those that don't fit a certain mold deemed acceptable. Music that is so hateful and resentful to proper and civilized behavior.

In this day and age, in America...The American is being squeezed out. The over flow of immigrants from around the world is causing this. Jobs are being exported to third world nations OR third world immigrants are flooding our nation. Salaries are falling while the cost of living is rising. Also the pot is no longer melting. People from other cultures are coming here not to embrace America and its values but to exploit our resources and wave the flag of their home land here. Our traditions are being trampled and overran by those of other nations....And our leaders have turned their backs to us. America had reached its production capacity 20 years ago, but greed and capitalism has driven this country to cheap labor to increase output hence the lack of desire to plug up our boarders.

In this day and age, the "flat earth people"...Those that are of a primitive mind set now have sophisticated weapons. These hateful middle eastern countries now can fulfill their desire to kill more easily. The general population can not grasp that concept so now that wars are going on to stop them, every one is freaking out not understanding why. And through that ignorance, they act out not fully understanding the consequences and forgetting what team they are on.

In this day and age, racism is at full force. Racism in America is like a blast furnace but every one is in denial...The hatred and discrimination is squarely aimed at the white people. Jokes by non-whites against whites is ok, but God forbid a white person makes fun of another race. Schools denying whites enrollment to kowtow to those of another race with inferior academic scores. Employers forced to hire other races, denying whites work even though they are more qualified. Institutions catering to minorities and immigrants with special programs and incentives that white people in the same financial situation could really use....But are denied.

In this day and age it appears as if the world has gone mad. With so much negative stimulation, it's bringing out the worse of man. Couple that with the anonymity provided by the Internet, people that would other wise be respectable citizens are now able to express their true, hateful selves.

In all reality, these issues are mainly focused on the U.S. There are plenty of other free countries out there. We are not unique despite what they infer and instill in you from a young age. There are other countries out there that do have class, that do have respect and that do have compassion for others....Just not here, at least not any more....and the way things have been going.....probably never again.

We are no longer Americans....We are batteries to power the big machine.

I think with or without God--humanity is selfish. And it is accepted to be selfish. That is what our world says. How is it possible to turn it around when adults leave this legacy of selfishness to their children? One person at a time. That is how.
