Like people who are prone to being struck by lighting. Her most recent episode was yesterday. At school she hit three kids & spit at the teacher. And they imformed me that yesterday was a bad day for alot of kids. She is not perfect on other days. And she has alot of very good days. But on full moons it just seems like it more severe. And I know that it is not a coincidence. I have been studying her behavior for quite some time. She is developmentally delayed which causes me to pay more attention to how she acts to different situations. I have looked at different article that try to disprove this theory. One stated that people act differently during full moons because they know it is a full moon. My daughter blows that theory right out of the water because she is only 5 years old & I have never discussed this with her. Case point. Every time there is a full moon she has irrational behavior. What can I do about it? Is there any natural remedities that anyone knows about?

First, thank you for your question because I'm going to start charting my son's behavioral problems during full moons.
Doctors and others have written tons of articles disproving the full moon affect on behavior but after working in trauma/ER as an RN, most medical people who actually work with people (and not just write about them) will tell you the worst nights are when there is a full moon. And I also don't believe it's because they know it's a full moon. We always got the craziest cases on nights that have full moons. And we had the busiest nights too. You can't tell me that a 100 people go out and drive drunk and kill themselves or others, or get into fights that lead to shootings and stabbings because they first checked the calender to see what phase the moon was in. I'd continue to document your daughter's behavior. Keep a journal of her behavior every day and don't look at the full moon for a month. Then go back to when it was a full moon and see if there was a difference. Do this for 2 or 3 months and if the pattern is there, take the journal with you to your daughter's doctor. I don't know if there is anything medically or drug-wise that can be done unless the doctor agrees with your findings and prescribes something to be given only on or before a full moon. You have an interesting point and as I said, I'm going to keep a journal for my son. His behavior isn't quite as obvious, but there are times I think I had the wrong kid at home with me.

Have her tested for food allergies. Also, start keeping a food-diary. My daughter's behavior is very influenced by what she eats and WHEN she eats. Have you had her hearing checked by an audiologist? Some hearing problems can affect behavior/learning. She might be too sensitive to some sounds. The test given for getting into school is not a very comprehensive test.
You might want to check out the books dedicated to understanding "THe Indigo Child", of which our daughters are a part of. The Indigo child is very challenging because of special sensitivities and these books really do help in understanding them and giving practical advice in helping them learn how to deal with their "specialness". These have helped me a lot. My daughter, so far, has no disablilities, just an old soul, an inquisitive mind, and a 43 year-old mother wore out from helping raise younger siblings, nephews and special-needs stepsons.

I think you need to talk to her doctor about this. May be attention deficit. Things like that can get worse during the full moon. But can be controlled with medicine. Just make sure you check everything out before you let your her start taking something. Good Luck and God bless!

you are going to have to let her know that you love her even though she is misbehaving, and make sure she knows shes there to stay! And also keep in mind that just cause she was abused doesnt mean you cant spank her, but it should be a very last resort, shes 5,you only want things to go up from here, when she gets home from school have her do her home work, when shes done with that spend some one on one time with her, you two need to bond, she also needs to spend one on one time with her dad, to make her feel like she belongs theere, she may be acting out just for the attention, bad attention is still attention!

actually it is thought that a full moon changes allot of things like the tide direction and even behavior in people.I was once told by a police officer that he has made most of his arrests on full moon.So you would think that it doesn't matter weather one knows it a full moon or they just act on it because of the changes.Good luck

As a full moon effects the "tides", it also effects us, humans. Our body is made up of mostly water and the change in this balance is what effects us. I too get REALLY irritable during a full moon. Ask my kids!........................
