If someONE told me, I might wonder about it, and think about the persons reliability and all before deciding.
But if I had accounts of several hundred people whose encounters with tomatoes was recorded over hundreds of years by several dozens different authors and the accounts were consistent. And the library of records had been studied by others for years who could support the historical accuracies of the accounts, the reliabilty of the document's text, and often add their own testimony of encountering tomatoes, then I would say that I would believe it.
Good thing we have all of that about God. Makes believing in him pretty easy.

what about the green ones?
If someone went to a faraway place, where I had never been, and came back with incredible stories of the things he had found, how would I react?
Well, I would be anxious to see for myself, but if I was unable to go, then I would have to take that person's word for it, but only if it makes sense, and harmonized with what else I had seen myself.

If I had a trustworthy source and no information to contradict it - yes.
Otherwise, I would form no belief about the color of something I've never seen, until I had evidence one way or the other.

If I saw the tomato sauce and it is red, I would guess that tomatos are red too.

How do you know love exist if you've never seen it.
Have you ever seen pain, anger, fear, or sadness? I haven't - but I know they exist because I have experienced and felt them.
