I think it's bc we have to make such difficult decisions and there are pros and cons either way so we always feel a little bit guilty about our own choice. Pointing out why ours is better makes us feel better. We should support each other though. we're all doing our best and nothing about parenting is easy.

I think it reflects on the morals and values taught to us by our parents or grandparents. Every one has different methods of doing things - wether it be punishment / child rearing / etc.... And of course, we (at least I do) have a hard time changing the cycle. We just assume that because that's the way our parents did things - that's the right way and it's hard to change (It's a comfort zone and people don't like to step out of that zone). I have a hard time admitting that my way isn't the best way - or the only way.... Although I support my friends and other parents choices, I sometimes have a hard time accepting them.

I think its because there are so many different belief systems. I my believe in timeout and you may believe in spanking so we would not necessarily support each other. We should all be able to respect the institution of motherhood and how hard it can be.

I try to be honest and supporting, to my friends and others. And they do so back. Sometimes we just don't like the answer. Truth hurts. But if someone is bashing you maybe you should try to ignore them and their opinion. Which can be hard sometimes

I know I'm guilty of that. I don't know why we do it, but it is sad. Maybe it makes us feel better about our parenting skills when we talk bad about someone else's. Not a very good excuse.
