All atheists have, at some point in their lives, sought truth and are at peace with their conclusions. I find that most atheists place a greater importance on truth for its own sake than most people BECAUSE they struggled to find truth.
It seems to me, you are making a lot of assumptions about what your god's will is. For instance, who's is to say that you yourself are not speaking on your own for your greater glory? Is it not the height of pride and arrogance to say you know what your god's will is? I propose that there is nothing BUT falseness in you.

Note the beginning: "If anyone chooses to do God's will" An atheist does not choose to do God's will, so by definition, this verse doesn't apply to an atheist, as much as you'd like to believe otherwise.
In fact, this is an instruction by Jesus as to how one can validate whether Jesus' own teachings are from God or not ("whether MY teaching comes from God"). This is not even close to a validation of the "believer" in any form.
Like all religion-nuts, your ignoring the whole sentence and corrupting your own bible in order to justify your myopic definition. And you wonder why you aren't taken seriously.

A follower of Christ is a individual with faith who calls himself or herself Christian. mockingly, she or he isn't even attempting to be one. do you opt to be attentive to why? Christianity isn't the actual Christianity in any respect. Christianity should not be a faith however the actuality, the relationship and the life sort in relation with the techniques and ideology of a individual who knows a thank you to stay precise in an orderly way. a real follower of Christ should not be a Christian however the guy who's with out faith and who lives to the actuality, the relationship and the life sort in relation with the techniques and ideology of a individual who knows a thank you to stay precise in an orderly way. I according to possibility a follower of Christ, yet i'm no longer. i'm a real follower of Christ (i'm an Emairhist), for the religion that I created wide-unfold because of the fact the Emairhus isn't faith in any respect, however the Emairhus is the actuality, the relationship and the life sort based on the techniques and ideology of a individual who knows a thank you to stay precise in an orderly way. that actual is me and the Emairhus is the actual Christianity.

Well, yes. I do not wish to honor a god that I don't believe in. When I'm doing good deeds I'm honoring myself as well as my fellow man. Is there anything wrong with that?

Jesus is saying that those who blurt out their own beliefs - just like many on this web-site - are simply getting attention to satisfy their own needs.
He went on to say that He was speaking for the honour of God who had sent him, and that true believers will find out that indeed his words did come from God.
The fact that we are discussing him 2000 years later, that Christianity has spread around the world and that so many people are trying to discredit him, is proof that his words are true

16So Jesus told them, "I'm not teaching my own ideas, but those of God who sent me. 17Anyone who wants to do the will of God will know whether my teaching is from God or is merely my own. 18Those who present their own ideas are looking for praise for themselves, but those who seek to honor the one who sent them are good and genuine. 19None of you obeys the law of Moses! In fact, you are trying to kill me."
This isn't about the difference atheists or Christians. I know alot of Christians that teach their own ideas and it is false. They are looking for personal gain. What do ya think about this perspective?

Not atheists; I think this passage applies to anyone speaking pridefully or seeking to honor himself. This includes many who call themselves "Christians."

It's much worse than that.
Romans 1
21For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools
28Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
