He seems to know alot of weird private stuff about all those people and their dead relatives. Does anyone know if he is religious, and if so, which religion does he call his own?

I'm sure he is probably reading their minds or has someone ask them stuff and uses it like a trick from "Leap of Faith", but damn, he's good.

He's using a technique called "Cold Reading," particularly "Shotgunning." From wikipedia:

Before starting the actual reading, the reader will typically try to elicit cooperation, saying something like, "I often see images that are a bit unclear and which may sometimes mean more to you than to me; if you help, we can together uncover new things about you."

The reader will then ask a number of questions, typically using variations of the methods noted below. The subject will typically reveal some information with their replies, and the cold reader can continue from there, pursuing promising lines of inquiry and abandoning unproductive ones. In general, while some of the information comes from the reader, most of the facts and statements come from the subject, and are then refined and restated by the reader.

Even very subtle cues such as changes in facial expression or body language can indicate if a particular line of questioning is effective or not.

"Shotgunning" is a common cold reading technique, often used by purported psychics and mediums. The psychic offers a huge quantity of information (some of which is certain to be correct, near correct or evocative), observes the subject's reactions, and then refines the original statements according to those reactions. This technique is named after a shotgun, which usually fires a spray of many small projectiles ("shot") rather than a single, larger projectile, in hopes that one or more of the shot will strike the target.

Edgar Cayce, Sylvia Browne, James Van Praagh, and John Edward have all been accused of shotgunning.

Shotgunning might include series of statements such as:

* "I see a heart problem with a father-figure in your family, a father, a grandfather, an uncle, a cousin... I'm definitively seeing chest pain here for a father-figure in your family."
* "I see a woman that isn't a blood relative. Someone around when you were growing up, an aunt, a friend of your mother, a step-mother with blackness in the chest, lung cancer, heart disease, breast cancer..."

Edwards' show is edited down to remove much of the fruitless shotgunning to make it even more effective.

Next time you watch, watch with a critical eye. How much does HE say, versus what does the "person being read" say? How many guesses that don't strike a reaction are ignored? How much of his early guessing is very, very general, and would apply to a lot of people?

As a Christian , I must confess he does puzzle me alitte. I say alittle bacause he would have t o be one wicked some of a b i t c h to pull on the heart strings of all those people. On the other hand he could really believe the voices hes hearing(demonic) and follow them or the whole thing is a fake show. I had heard he gathers information on the people who come to see him before HAND, but if not there are other tricks unknown to the layman to do his "art". He doesnt give too specific info on certain issues like you said. Someone should ask him straight out, where are these people , heaven or hell? It is intended to be covered up though because everybodys making money. Good point, Id like to find out more about his operations. Peace.

John Edwards is like most people pretending to be mediums--he networks. He (well, his team) researches the people in the audience and uses the information he finds against them. The answers he gives are usually so vague that they could apply to any number of different people and situations. I suspect the reason he never mentions heaven or hell is that he doesn't want to alienate his audience. After all, who wants to hear that Aunt Jennie is burning in hell for all eternity? I imagine that would be a bit of a downer. As for his religious preferences, my bet is that he worships at the Church of John Edwards. I can't believe that someone claiming to be a christian would prey on people's hopes and fears the way this charlatan does.

Because he isn't talking to the dead.

He's doing an old trick where he'll blurt out "Who is John" to a crowd of 200 - 300 people. The chances are good that someone in that group will know a John who died, if not, he goes to "it beings with a J, Jack, Jim," etc. until someone reacts, he then will look at the person and begin to ask questions based on the "hit" of the name and give them lots of vague information that could apply to anyone.

Because there is a strong possibility that Hell doesnt exsist and heaven may not be what we think it is. I think we are reincarnated not so much into animals but we are given another chance to learn life lessons again and when its not our turn to be reincarnated or to come back we are set to help others in the world. We become their spirit guides or their Guardians spirits who protect them, we might even help family members life neices and nephews or children from the otherside.this would really explain why so many people feel the presence of their Grandparents or Kids are always seeing people or look they are laughin at nothing or to them selves! Those who lived horrible lives and used their time here not to learn and live but to destroy life and the such dont get their time at all or have to work so hard in the afterlife to even get the chane. This is why hitler would never come back!

He doesn't speak to the dead. Watch closely and you'll see he never asserts something until AFTER the living person has said it.

"Today is special to you somehow, I feel..."

"Yes! Yes, it's his birthday, today would have been his birthday!"

"He wants you to know he's spending his birthday with you."

It's a trick called cold reading, and for cold reading, you never want to give the impression that Yahweh is the one true god because if it were, you'd be stoned to death for being a medium.

I don't know who John Edwards is but the Bible clearly teaches that when we die we are not aware of anything.
Eccl.9:5 -"For the living are conscious that they will die but as for the dead they are conscious of nothing at all".
In the account of the death of Jesus' friend Lazarus,Jesus compared death to a sleep .(John11:11-14)
This man is communicating with demons and not the dead.Demons know everything about us.They have watched mankind for centuries. It is nothing for them to pretend to be a dead loved one and imitate their voice. For instance,Acts16:16-18 mentions "a demon of divination" that enabled a girl to practise "the art of prediction".But she lost the ability when the demon was cast out of her.The Bible warns us to keep away from those who practise spirit ism and divination as it is all linked to Satan and the demons. There is nothing religious or miraculous about it.

1. John Edwards is a fraud. (and, according to South Park, the biggest douche in the Universe)

2. Heaven is a fraud.

3. Hell is a fraud.

Disclaimer: I really have no idea, but that's my guess.

Because he is latching on to demons in the guise of dead relatives. They don't have the right to say they are in heaven, and they are trying to fool people, so they don't say they are from hell.
