Bird flu is still present and causing ravishing effects in Asian countries. Although you don't hear too much about it anymore, that's only because the media sometimes finds more precious news to highlight. It is expected that come fall the virus will once again spread rapidly and to new parts of the world, as it is passed on by migratory birds. Predictions say it might be in the United States in a few weeks, but it is not yet certain when exactly the feared pandemic will start. Asian countries such as Indonesia are still fighting with the disease. Indonesia in particular is having great difficulties in controlling it, recording new human deaths almost regularly.

As for the US, officials have a nationwide plan of surveillance to track down the earliest trace of the disease. It is believed the virus will eventually enter the country, but to what extent an epidemic will occur, no one can tell. Just be cautios about it and keep following the news. There are many kinds of bird flu. It is only a matter of time before the lethal form arrives here. IF it transmitted solely through birds it will take a little longer than if it is transmitted through birds and humans., Other than trying to maintain good health and a reasonable concern for hygeine I am not sure what else can be done. At this point one is much more likely to be killed in a car wreck than by a sick bird.

Haven't heard much lately about that. I do know that the symptoms include:

Fatigue, Fever, Headache, Overall achiness... and an irresistible urge to s**t on someone's windshield.

Haven't heard anything lately. I guess the news would rather have us worry about terrorists right now.
