I am a African descent person who has vitiligo like symptoms, and I am very angered at the attitudes toward Micheal Jackson and others like me. People look at me and say, "what's that 'thing' on your neck as if I am some animal. And to be honest it does look different, but I can't help it. It's not okay to make fun of people with skin cancer, but society accepts making fun of people like me. I have been Black so long it is hard turning White, I am insecure now but am working on trying to become proud and count my blessings.
Micheal was wealthy and at first covered up his vitiligo with makeup artists. Then it got so bad that instead of being black with white patches it became white with only penny-sized brown spots left, so naturally he just covered up the few brown that was left. Skin cancer patients don't cover up their disease so why should Micheal paint himself brown every morning.
A Caucasian girl who works with me made up this lie that she knew PLENTY of people whom she befriended with vitiligo who were black and only had white patches and not completely white and Micheal was a desperate wanna be White. Never mind she was talking to a group of White women who went tanning everyday after work. Nevermind only 2% of people in the entire country have it, and less than 1.5% of those people are Black, yet she just 'happens' to be friends with a whole bunch of Blacks who have it. I didn't know this girl to well, but after that I made sure to never get to know her anyway. When you tell a definite lie then you loose a possible friend. If a company made fun of cancer patients they would be sued and put out of business, but vitiligo patients are the joke of society. We need federal regulation to protect people with symptoms like mine the way we do other disabled people.
Please visit www.avrf.org and click on the adult case studies and learn about the blacks who have turned completely white. To see people say I am glad I have a disorder or I did it on purpose is sickening, as if people would choose to have a deficiency.

I am An Australian and I have vitiligo, I am white or pink but the vitiligo is very white, it is in patches all over my body, but has not completely covered my body. I use a foundation when I go out so it's not so obvious. I really don't believe that Michael Jackson has it, his is too consistant.Hope this helps a little.

Because the man had Vitiligo, a skin disease that causes the skin to discolorate and peal, and since Michael was in the public eye all the time, he went ahead and had his skin completion "evened out" so he wouldn't look so "unappealing" (if that's even possible lol). MJ was very self conscious of his looks all his life, starting with his brothers. they used to call him "Big Nose", those bastards! But anyway, He always cared about what his fans thought of him so he went ahead and did the procedure.... Everything MJ did was for us. That's one of the things that makes him so loved by his true fans!

I am white with whiter patches. The books that I am reading indicate that vitiligo may be one of the skin conditions caused by the Candida fungus that lives in all our intestines.
There is some basic info about Candida (yeast) at www.hufa.org. I am trying to cleanse it from my system and plan on getting some herb concoction call "Swedish Bitters" from my health food store probably tomorrow. It is supposed to acidify my stomach acid more, to kill the fungus I ingest with food, and is supposed to especially help against vitiligo.

Michael Jackson has blotches from the Vitiligo and he evens it out with makeup! It also makes him allergic to the sun which is why he uses an umbrella or covers himself outside!
