That depends on a few things like, how old are you?
He shouldn't pick who you can date, which is different from who you can't. He shouldn't tell you to date someone that you have no interest in, yet he has a right to worry if you're dating a loser. If he's a normal Dad he's just worried about your welfare.

He can do whatever he wants until he's sees you're mature enough to make those kind of decisions on your own. He's been there done that, he knows how to filter out the scum trying to date his daughter. He just loves you and will try his best to protect you....forever!
