Chaniann has the exact correct answer. The correct etiquette is to send the gift to the bride and groom at the specified address BEFORE the wedding.
I wish more people did this - then there wouldn't be a need for a "gift table" at receptions!
This also gives the bride and groom a chance to get ahead on their thank-you notes as the gifts will trickle in, vs. having to do an avalanche of them right after the wedding.
So folks, be courteous - send your gifts early! :o)

I'd suggest shipping the gifts home instead of packing them. Truly, you shouldn't be receiving any at a destination wedding, or even a "traditional" wedding. Gifts should be sent to the bride's home before the wedding, or to the couple's home up to a year after the wedding.

The concierge can probably assist you in making the proper arrangements. It may help if you establish a UPS or FedEx account before the wedding. Then, you can just schedule a pick-up from the wedding venue or hotel.

In good etiquette, one is not suppose to take the gift to the wedding. The gift is to be sent to the couple----in person or by mail.
