LOL. I thought one of mine was the only one to do this. Guess not. He sneezes all the time. When he eats, sleeps, uses the litter box, or playing. He has gotten to the point he sleeps through the sneezes. My other two don't do it. There isn't a normal level. Can start for a number of reasons. But my vet said that they can outgrow it.

We have one cat that sneezes and I asked my vet about it. She told me it was normal too - and said "don't YOU sneeze once in a while?"

Although I value her opinion, this particular cat has had an allergic reaction to sutures, and I'm pretty sure she has mild allergies. She doesn't sneeze all the time, but more than I would consider normal. We have about 10 cats (I show & raise Ragdolls), and none of the others sneeze like this.

As a general rule, cats will sneeze if they have an upper respiratory infection, or allergies (some other things as well). However, I trust your vet has ruled out the URI and other serious illness.

So my best guess is that your kitty has an allergy.

Most likely the cat has allergies or an upper respiratory infection, it is not normal nor good for a cat to sneeze alot. You should definitely get the cat checked out and on meds. Alot of times, if it's an upper respiratory infection the vet will give you medicine to last them about 10 days, but if after the 10 days, if the cat is still sneezing, you have to go back to the vet right away and extend the amount of the time on the medication. Upper respiratory infections are very common in cats but can also be very easily treatable.

It could be allergies. It IS normal for cats to sneeze from time to time, but if his sneezing seems incessant (constant), consider getting a second opinion from another vet. He should've been tested for allergies if you're concerned about the frequency of his sneezing. But your vet probably wanted to spare you the expense of such testing.

We adopted a female dilute calico a couple of weeks ago. She'd been with the humane society for months, and spent a little time in a small cage at PetSmart waiting to be adopted. For the first week, she was sneezing and hacking up a storm. But it eventually went away. Cats can get small colds, or even just be irritated by too much dust......but if this has been going on for a while, you might want to consider having him tested for allergies.

Good luck!

I would consider taking your cat to another Vet. It is not normal for a cat to sneeze alot. Once or twice to clear the passage ways, yes, but to have your cat continue to sneeze simply means that there is something foreign in the body that it's trying to get rid of. Also, think of yourself sneezing as much as your cat and ask yourself what you would do. And why?

I have a 6 year old Cream Point Lynx Ragdoll in which she has started sneezing periodically after I brought her in from a few hours of being outside on her harness. There is no discharge from the nose or eyes and she is eating well and is active. Her breathing is also normal. I am thinking the dust and mold from the grass may have irritated her sinus cavities and this is temporary?

I have an Abysinian cat who sneezes many times every day. Sinus problems are common with cats, especially breeds that have a kind of smushed-in face, like abbys and Persians. Nothing for you to do or worry about.

I had a vet tell me that it isn't normal for cats to sneeze. It means there's something wrong...a cold or allergies. i would take the cat to the vet for this problem.
