bit more info as I am liking creskins answer. I am talking New 911, or second hand Aston. You would be surprised what you can get off a used DB9 as they do exist and are ALOT cheaper than a new one. I had a Boxster, my only porsche dabbling, but never been in an aston except DB7 on a track day thing. I like the classy style but wonder if they have stopped using old modeo switch gear in them, as they are a glorified Ford after all, but then the 911.. classic, fast but pretentious. Oh, and yes, I can afford either. thanks for asking.

Aston wins hands down every time - there is nothing that can beat sheer class!

911's are far too common.

Well it is nice to have the choice isn't it. I have had my F430 for 3 months now and seriously am considering the new AMV8 as my everyday car.

Why do you have to have the DB9 ? It is a great looking car but it is not a drivers car. I have never been a Porsche fan and recent 911's have never interested me. I drove the new one at Brands Hatch when a guy wanted to drive my 430 so we had a drive in each. I must say I really liked the car, it is very well balanced and very comfortable.

I would sugest the AMV8 new, it wont lose a lot of money as it is cheap for an aston. Otherwise buy the 911. One other option is a 360. I traded mine for the 430 and that is an awesome car compared to your shortlist, you will get back ache though. I havnt driven my stradale for three months and I ve still got back ache.

Good Luck, hope yu are happy with your final decision.

It would depend on which Asto Martin model your talking abut.
The vanquish is a nice car but almost nobody has the ability to drive it to its full potential, and see what a V-12 can really do.
Seems like a waste to buy such a thoroughbred and then never use it the way it was intended.

Im not a fan of the newer Porsche body styles since they all seem to look like a boxster.

I am partial to the classic body style of the 911 from the 80's.
If they have been maintained well. They will continue to appreciate in value. They are plenty fast, and everyone looks good in it.

Buy a Aston Martin DB9 in grey. Its much less common than a 911 and was voted the sexiest car!!!!!!!!!

I wish i was in a position to make such a decision

You want to look common, or like you actually have class? I'd leap at the chance to own an Aston (and have the money to run it). Astons just have all the style and class and charisma - Porsche will be just another common-as-muck sports car.

Aston, without a doubt. With a 911 you'll come downstairs in the morning, look out the window, and go "Oh no someone's poured paint stripper on it again"!!!!!
