How old is the orthodox faith?

If you are a Lutheran, your religion was founded by Martin Luther, an ex-monk of the Catholic Church, in the year 1517. If you belong to the Church of England, your religion was founded by King Henry VIII in the year 1534 because the Pope would not grant him a divorce with the right to re-marry. If you are a Presbyterian, your religion was founded by John Knox in Scotland in the year 1560. If you are a Congregationalist, your religion was originated by Robert Brown in Holland in 1582. If you are Protestant Episcopalian, your religion was an offshoot of the Church of England, founded by Samuel Senbury in the American colonies in the 17th century. If you are a Baptist, you owe the tenets of your religion to John Smyth, who launched it in Amsterdam in 1606. If you are of the Dutch Reformed Church, you recognize Michelis Jones as founder because he originated your religion in New York in 1628. If you are a Methodist, your religion was founded by John and Charles Wesley in England in 1774. If you are a Mormon (Latter Day Saints), Joseph Smith started your religion in Palmyra, New York, in 1829. If you worship with the Salvation Army, your sect began with William Booth in London in 1865. If you are Christian Scientist, you look to 1879 as the year in which your religion was born and to Mary Baker Eddy as its founder.

If you belong to one of the religious organizations known as "Church of the Nazarene, Pentecostal Gospel," "Holiness Church," or "Jehovah's Witnesses," your religion is one of the hundreds of new sects founded by men within the past hundred years.

If you are Roman Catholic, your church shared the same rich apostolic and doctrinal heritage as the Orthodox Church for the first thousand years of its history, since during the first millennium they were one and the same Church. Lamentably, in 1054, the Pope of Rome broke away from the other four Apostolic Patriarchates (which include Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch and Jerusalem), by tampering with the Original Creed of the Church, and considering himself to be infallible. Thus your church is 1,000 years old.

If you are Orthodox Christian, your religion was founded in the year 33 by Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It has not changed since that time. Our church is now almost 2,000 years old. And it is for this reason, that Orthodoxy, the Church of the Apostles and the Fathers is considered the true "one Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church." This is the greatest legacy that we can pass on to the young people of the new millennium.

Yep, just like you religious nuts "My church is right, we're better". You should just be happy that people are still ignorant enough to believe in God. Don't worry, evolution will fix that too.

I would hope that one day the two "sides" of the Catholic Church--Roman and Eastern Orthodox can get over this silly argument of the wording of the creed--neither version is in conflict with the Scripture and Tradiotion of our great Church instituted by Christ.

In my opinion--the two separate religions as you see them are still one and the same with a nearly 1000 year-old arguement of choice of wording which didn't appear in 1054 but in 447 at the Synod of Toledo in Spain. All that the pope did in 1054 was to put the creed back into the Mass where it belongs.

You can argue that these words change or alter the doctrine on the trinity, but I too have my reservations about that. God is one in three persons and there are references in scripture where the Holy Spirit is both sent forth by the Father and the Son, which would make sense that this is possible as the Three are One.

And in this case the two (Churches) are the ONE, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.

Pretending that the Jehovah's Witness religion materialized out of thin air in the 1800's is simply anti-Witness nonsense.

http://watchtower.org/library/w/2001/8/1/article_01.htm

Roman Catholics and other Trinitarians repeatedly pretend that Jehovah's Witnesses are not Christian. They use an artificial, trinity-specific definition of the term "Christian" which excludes anyone who does not believe that Jesus is God Himself, rather than the Son of God. Interestingly, pagans in the first century pretended that Christ's followers were Atheists(!) because the Christians had a somewhat different idea from the pagans about the nature of God.

Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe! Both secular dictionaries and disinterested theologians acknowledge that Jehovah's Witnesses are a Christian religion.

The Trinitarian arguments are intended to insult and demean Jehovah's Witnesses, rather than to give a Scripturally accurate understanding of the term "Christian".

In fact, the bible most closely associates being "Christian" with preaching about Christ and Christ's teachings. Review all the times the bible uses the term "Christian" and note that the context connects the term with:
"declaring the good news"
'teaching quite a crowd'
'open eyes, turn from dark to light'
"uttering sayings of truth"
"persuade"
"keep on glorifying"

(Acts 11:20-26) [The early disciples of Jesus] began talking to the Greek-speaking people, declaring the good news of the Lord Jesus... and taught quite a crowd, and it was first in Antioch that the disciples were by divine providence called Christians.

(Acts 26:17-28) [Jesus said to Paul] I am sending you, to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light and from the authority of Satan to God... Paul said: “I am not going mad, Your Excellency Festus, but I am uttering sayings of truth and of soundness of mind. ...Do you, King Agrippa, believe the Prophets? I know you believe.” But Agrippa said to Paul: “In a short time you would persuade me to become a Christian.”

(1 Peter 4:14-16) If you are being reproached for the name of Christ, you are happy... But if he suffers as a Christian, let him not feel shame, but let him keep on glorifying God in this name

So why do anti-Witnesses try to hijack the term "Christian" and hide its Scriptural implications? Because anti-Witnesses recognize that it is the preaching work that makes it clear that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are by far the most prominent followers of Christ:

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded

Actually Mr. Rev. Dr.,

Following the Bible is the "greatest legacy that we can pass on to the young people of the new millennium." And, not only the young but the old people as well.

Also, Jesus never advocated for religion, He taught of faith and belief in our Heavenly Father. Religion is what divides us as believers in God & followers of Jesus.

The Bible (the Word of God) is the same everywhere & always.

1 Corinthians 1:10

10 ¶ Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

Except that the Jesus was jewish wasn't he?

The greatest legacy would be for children to be as well informed of the diferences as you are and then to learn from all the mistakes and not to become involved in religious groups.

Religion divides mankind , and to be kind to people annd our planet doesnt require religion, getting into a religion limits one's spitituality, closes the doors of growth and understanding , makes people judgemental and is the cause for most wars and sociial rifts.we don't need religion to love but is so often behind hate.

I am not sure what you are asking?
I am LDS (mormon) and yes Joseph Smith RESTORED the true gospel to the earth through the direction and commandment of our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ.
I have a strong testimony and had to find out for myself if the religion was true or not and IT IS!!!
