Obviously it was much more than just bringing back the two soldiers. Israel perhaps wanted to put a stop to its soldiers being carried off, time and again. However, Israel has a bad habbit of grabbing and holding people without charges. Ironically the United States has picked up that bad habbit also lately.

When your family members are held for decades without even a case filed against them and you have no other recourse but to grab the Israeli soldiers, such a World is indeed a pathetic place.

Israel perhaps did not expect so many casualties, if not, it would have negotiated one more time. Besides Israel wanted to prepare the grounds for a war with Iran, in which Hezbollah would have attacked Israel, so Israel wanted to perhaps soften Hezbollah up in preparation for the upcoming war that was being planned.

What happened was things back-fired. Allah/God allows people some lattitude, but obviously Israel finally exceeded the limits and got a good whipping. No one in the past had sent so many missiles Israel's way. No one had had the ability to fight a little part of America for thirty four days.

Remember though that Vietnam has to its credit the fact that a third world nation can indeed resist a superpower and hold its grounds. The same happened in Afghanistan as well.

I do not care for Communism, nor for the Taliban brand of Islam, which in my view is too extreme, but I do admire their courage and ability to resist nations far more powerful than themselves and still not give in.

It just shows that human spirit can not be subdued by force. All praise be to Allah for making human beings as they are made.

I hope and pray that we will learn to live in peace one of these days. Insha-Allah/God Willing!!

Absolutely. Those 2 soldiers lives are of worth, and they were abducted in an unprovoked act of war. Every other man in the IDF was willing to put themselves at risk to redeem those 2 men, because that is how they would want it to happen should it have been them.

This shows a very high valuation on life, which is a good thing. Because it is not the number of people who are harmed that matters - it is that people are harmed at all.

Because if they did not value life so much, including the lives of the innocent people living in their enemies' countries, do you not believe that Baghdad, Damascus or Cairo would have long ago been nuked or the Palestinians wiped out?

History is full of examples where much effort and sacrifice was exerted on the behalf of saving a smaller group. The US war against the barbary pirates, when Teddy Roosevelt sent in warships and Marines to rescue the American woman and her son abducted by Moroccan Berbers, in WW2 where a Japanese-American regiment was sent in to rescue a trapped battalion of Texans (I believe) at a great cost - over 800 casualties to rescue 220 men, etc.

It is this high value placed on the individual that makes these actions speak highly of the culture of life that is embraced by Western civilization.

Like any school yard bully, you must stand up to him at some point or you will forever be paying the price. You may suffer some injuries, but you will let him know you are serious about being left alone.

We teach our own children to defend themselves, Israel was doing just that.

I believe the bully has been put in his place for a while or at least will go looking for a different victom.

Israel did not start any war!
The moon worshipers HATE Israel.
Israel is a Sovereign Nation that was ATTACKED.

All they had to do was release the two and it would have
all been over.
Instead, the Philistines kept the captives and CAUSED people on both sides to suffer and die.

Leave no comrade behind. Period. Without this commitment their military would not be as good as it is. This has been the credo of US forces for some time going back to the beginning.

Especially when it is obvious that these prisoners are being used as tools of politics and potentially being tortured.

Start a war? Israel didn't start it. They're trying to end the daily persecution and murder of their people. That is a justifiable end.

yes, you must take care of your people. Israel values each person, that is why the hezbollah were so surprised, they don't value individuals.
