First of all we don't "store" wounded in the back of the ambulance we treat them there. We also transport ill patients and those that require transfer by ambulance because they are physically unable to travel by other means. After 20 years on the ambulance I still just call that "the back of the ambulance".

The cab is the front where the driver and passenger sit same as with any vehicle.

Wounded aren't stored, they are treated by highly trained medical professionals, not ambulance drivers. And the back of the ambulance has always been called "the back of the ambulance." There is no special word or name for it.
