Some one made an excellent point in my last question. She compared the Atheist on this board to an alcoholic without a drink. Do you think the Atheist who spend HOURS and HOURS a day on the religion and spiritually section are addicted to God?

HA HA HA Muderhals...If you are so board with these types of questions why do you keep answering them? Are you addicted to God? In AA they call questions like these the "HOT SEAT" Hippocrates are SO funny.

My father is a recovering Alcoholic. He stopped drinking years ago with the help of God and AA. When he tells his story he talks about when he first quit drinking. When he did it on his own...he wanted a drink SO BAD every day. He knew he WANTED to stop, but he craved it. He thought about it every day. He visited bars to be around it. He dreamed about it. He knew as long as he remained around people who drank, he'd always be tempted. Only when he changed his play grounds and play mates did he find he no longer obsessed about it.

The Atheist are the same, except their addiction to God is healthy and not harmful. Most of them believed in God at one time or another...they are still hanging on to hope. They know that as long as they are still holding on, the urge to believe will always be there. If they where truly confident in their decision to turn away, they would not keep obsessing on it. Our job is to keep offering them that first drink...

Sorry to burst your bubble!

No, we're looking for that rare question about spirtuality. Or sometimes we actually answer questions to which we know the answers. I've been known to answer catholic questions, since I'm an ex.

Or others, like me, are hanging out in Society & Culture, the parent group, and occasionally answer questions in R&S.

Aw, someone thinks the truth hurts...lol!

Personally, I don't find anything funny about Hippocrates. I think the Hippocratic oath is really really good, and I'm glad the doctors all take it.

The athiests/agnostics on this board are generally interested in two things: 1) helping people who are on the fence to avoid being duped by the Judeo-Christian (or Islamic) lie, and 2) forwarding arguments to inform people about the tendency toward theocracy in the US. There is ample evidence of both.

Yes, I am addicted to boredom, and the endless amounts of entertainment arguments give me suits my need. Plus, I have an advantage over the opposition since I know the bible better than most believers do.

Real or imaginary, if a person can benefit from faith then what's wrong with that? I have met people that have endured terrible events in their life because of their faith. I think even medical science would prove that there are benefits of believing.

Jibba Jabba said it all. Actually I'm glad they're here. If we can reach just one person for God what an awesome thing.

I'm here to educate people like yourself as to why your religion is harmful, and your god doesn't exist. I do this because I worry about the state of this country, and the future of humanity.

It is important to me, yes. And you can make up your own mind, and your own insults about my motives. But all that matters to me is that people like yourself learn something from my answers, whether you want to or not.

A ~ the ~ ist....Are actually very angry with God. In my opinion they are truly seeking God. Believers need to pray for ALL who are not saved by the grace of God through Christ.

Yes. We all secretly believe in your god.

Either that or we're bored at work but can't just go home because the boss expects us to be present.
