No. Patriotism is freedom of expression. The freedom to believe what they want. I think like 20% of americans are atheist, but that does not make them evil. But they still have believers of the confederates and they feal patriotism is meant for the white man of america. Patriotism defined by the president does not coincide with the general public. He probably only truly speaks for about 15-25% of the population in the US. But Clinton was different. That was a dude I could recognise as a person who would live around the block from me. A down to earth brotha regardless of what race or religion.
In school they make us pladge allegiance to the flag and the US, not GOD. But one of the quotes is "one nation under GOD". But this is a christian nation, so I assume they mean jesus. But america probably has every religion living inside of it's borders. So no, patriotism is not allegiance to GOD. But every man views and beliefs are different. PEACE!

I would say no. Patriotism is allegiance to the country (The United States of America). In my mind being a Christian and acting as a follower of Jesus shows my allegiance to God. So partiotism and allegiance to God are 2 different things.

Personally, I view patriotism as allegiance to the constitution and laws of the United States. God, as much as I love the lord, has very little to do with patriotism. When I inducted into the army way back when, my vow was to protect the US form foreign invaders, and protect the constitution. Remember that seperation of church and state is a backbone philosophy of our country that has been reafirmed by the courts. American patriotism to me involves staying actively involved in the happenings of our country. Voting, and communicating with my elected representatives as often as I feel necessary. It does not mean blindly following any leaders policies that I feel are incorrect, and it does mean calling them to task when they fail. Love of God to me is seperate. My christian views, are personally mine, If you ask me about them, I will gladly share them with you. But I also realize a great many people in the US do not share my views on God or things spiritual. My most hartfelt philosophy in this matter is to afford others the respect, and freedom to practice their spirituality in their own way.

I view patriotism as loyalty to my country. A country that God has allowed to be created or it wouldn't exist. I wouldn't be here if God didn't want me to be. So I guess it's sort of the opposite of your question. I'm patriotic because God has ordained the allegiance to my country.
did that make sense?
Have a great day!!!

Unfortunately, many seem to. Many Americans claim to be Christians, but our country isn't known for Christian-like actions. We have just as many poor, homeless, and imprisoned people.
Many have confused America's prosperity with blessings from God, and maybe they are. We are not God's nation, and we could be so much dust in the wind twenty years from now if things don't start looking up. Nothing is gauranteed.

The sane ones are capable of distinguishing the difference between country and god, pledging allegiance to the one that exists, ignoring the one that doesn't.

This country was founded on religious freedom. Our money says "In God we trust" on it. Our Pledge of Allegiance has the words "one nation under God". So, yes I would think so. God bless America!

You have to remember that this country was founded by people seeking religious freedom. Puritans, pilgrims, etc.
So, the reason they came here at all, was to practice their religion without any hinderance or threat.
They built the country around the principles of relgion so I think because of that they are closely intertwined.
Love of country is an appreciation of what God gave us.

Many Americans view them as one and the same. Thanks in part to the confusing wording of the Pledge of Allegiance, which ORIGINALLY did not reference god at all.

No, patriotism at this point would be taking care of our people and problems...not entertaining a government that is incapable of simple everyday tasks...Not electing a greedy redneck would have been a good start, I'm just ashamed of the majority of the U.S right now.
