Yes, exactly. Do a search of "What would it take to change your beliefs?" and the answers back are so bull-headed and stubborn, people have outright said "Nothing! No proof, fact, nor common sense will make me change my mind! How DARE you try to use fact against me and mine!"

Awful, just too bad really.

If people want to disbelieve, will they find every excuse possible to retain that disbelief in light of reason?

I don't think this is an absolute truth but i think people some times are very stubborn. I think most "religions" are based on faith despite the evidence. Like show your faith even though all the evidence says otherwise. Where as Christianity is more here;s the evidence we have, have faith to believes it's true.

Yup. People usually believe what makes them feel good. It takes a much stronger person to see things as they are – especially when it results in a negative situation for them.

Judging by the behavior of most of the Christians, Jews, and Muslims in the world, I'd say yes.

i think that most of the time people base their beliefs on what makes sense to them. what you're really asking is, will people hold onto their beliefs despite how much you try to make them see the logic of your beliefs, right?
if their logic made sense to you, you would share similar beliefs.

The truth will set you free. Are you still asking "what is truth" like Pilate?

Yes, as is evident in the world today...Blind faith (or belief) is probably the number one cause of world conflict today.
