The Fur Trade - For or Against?

Question

Do you wear fur yourself, and what do you think to the fur trade, should it be banned world wide, and are you a member of any campaign?

I don't want to hear about whether you see the difference between eating meat and wearing leather shoes against wearing fur!! its wrong! We need to eat meet because its part of the food chain and we need the essential nutrients to survive! You can't exactly stop a crocodile from eating a zebra can you?! Whereas fur is not needed as a everyday nessecity - nor is leather shoes or boots or even handbags, Fur is a more cruel way than any other of these! In many countries they skin animals ALIVE!

AGAINST !!!!!!!!!! with out a second thought !!!! how would people who wear ful like it if we killed them and their family for sport, skinned them and wore them as a fasion accessory !!! In fact people who wear fur are pompous tw*ts who deserve to be shot and paraded around draped across someones shoulders!

For, in the same way I'm for eating meat, as I see little ethical difference. While I do not wear fur myself (as most blokes, opinions aside) I have leather items. I don't see anything wrong with it at all. the 'Ugh, you'd be wearing a DEAD ANIMAL' argument is the kind of thing you'd expect from a six year old, and a sensitive one at that, but it seems to be of of the main motivations behind the anti fur campaign, alone with the cruelty issue. Animals die all the time, get over it. An animal will almost never die of old age in the wild, but will almost always be killed an eaten (although not always in that order). At least this way it's a quick death, and as it usually comes from fur farms they will live in a safer, healthier, better fed, less stressful environment than in the wild.

Fur is for animals. Hair is for humans. Simple really.

Would not wear fur, cannot condone wearing fur, but then don't support testing cosmetics on animals, or hunting, or factory farming, so do think animals are entitled to some quality of life and we should respect in their life and death.

There are really good imitation furs these days, you don't need to kill animals to wear fur.

Most fur comes from FUR FARMS now, not like the old days. They raise the animals for fur like a rancher raises cattle for hides and meat.
It's the illegal trade that needs to be shut down. Some more animals will become extinct if they don't stop it.

I don't wear fur but my husband runs a trapline. Since I'm not a vegetarian or vegan, I see no difference between eating a hamburger, wearing leather shoes, or wearing a fur.

in warm climate where fur just for fan i am against it. but at some places where temperature dropped up to -60 C it's not a fanny matter. it's survival. and at present none of synthetic materials are proofed to be good enough

Against the fur trade in general, yes it should be banned. What i can`t get into my head though, are these big, brave hunters who go off into the woods and shoot a 1 ton stationary moose, cut it`s head off and mount it as a trophy. WTF is that all about???
